Early morning shoppers at a supermarket in Jeddah were left reeling yesterday, with some falling unconscious, after a well-built Syrian man clinched a knife and decapitated his 15-month-old nephew in front of his mother in the stores fruit and vegetable section.
In a brutal murder that has shocked the city, the 25-year-old man beheaded the boy, who was out shopping with his mother in full glare of shoppers and staff at Al-Marhaba supermarket on Sari Street around 9.30 a.m. The man, who is the boys maternal uncle, apparently killed the boy following a dispute with his sister and brother-in-law.
Eyewitnesses said that the man picked up a knife from inside the store and severed the boys head. The mother and a shopper standing close by fainted, while several other stood in shock and disbelief over what had happened.
A police officer, who spoke on condition of anonymity, told Arab News, The murderer was in a dispute with the boys mother and her husband. He chopped off the boys head in front of the mother to get back at her. He added that the mother has been left traumatized and is in hospital. The boys father was at work at the time of the incident.
Following the murder, police sealed off the supermarket while forensic experts gathered evidence. Ambulances were also called to the scene. The supermarket reopened for business at around 1.15 p.m. It happened so quickly. Before people could intervene, the man had cut more than half way through the childs neck, said Abu Muhammad, a grandfather in his mid-60s.
A Saudi till attendant at a nearby cafe said, One of my colleagues went to see what was going on and returned shivering. He saw the kids body and so we gave him the day off. He was in a bad state.
An eyewitness, who lives in the neighborhood, said that the victims family lived close by and frequented the supermarket. Ive seen the murderer carrying the same child and playing with him on a number of occasions, he added.
No one could bear the gruesome sight of the boys decapitated body lying on the floor, said Muneer, a Turkish car mechanic, who works at a garage close by. How could someone do such a thing? I just cant understand it... I still cant believe it, he said, shaking his head.
When the store reopened, employees were still in a state of shock. A guard, standing at the entrance, stood frozen and oblivious to the rush of shoppers. Pain and anguish were writ large on his face.
Keep them out of here.
“Who knows? Perhaps this case, as horrific as it is, will serve as a wake-up call and the Saudis will step out of the 7th Century and start to demand that human life and freedom must be respected. Maybe this disgraceful result will get them to reconsider the practice of hostage-taking, and cause them to realize that every life has value.”
That I sure can agree with and pray for. But I also think that the best hope for any nation under Islam is that the truth of Christ no longer be suppressed and denied to the people. Christianity knows and defends the value of every life.
And though I believe this horrific crime is a crime and not some kind of statement of Islamic belief I am all too aware that Islam ( even if as some argue it gets twisted) was birthed in blood and lives on in blood. That what we in Christianity call sin is in Islam another way of justifying murder, terror, and cruelty.
So many horrors do originate from Islam. Fortunately Saudi Arabia will view this as a crime and the butcher will be punished. Had this happened in some Islam countries and had the victim been a female who had dared to go against her father’s commands then yeah this would hardly have raised a blip.
In countries where Christ has been silenced the old gods will take hold. They are always savage, petty, evil and blood thirsty. They thrive on human sacrifice. Moloch has his aborted babies but “Allah” has a much more varied fare.
The perplexed reactions of the other shoppers baffles me. This is a country (Saudia Arabia) where heads, arms, feet, and noses are hacked off in public as part of the Friday afternoon show and where women and children are lashed and stoned for the enjoyment of viewers.
Additionally, Saudi-sponsored terrorists do this to non-Muslims EVERYDAY.
They are already here and one of them Islamic fanatics is currently the democrat candidate for President.
Would you care to place a friendly wager on that? I would bet he gets no more than a severe lashing.
Of course, I could be wrong, which is the purpose of the wager. Betting on sure things is boring.
Under Obama's botched abortion law, wouldn't this be legal?
Closed just long enough for clean up. Must have been very traumatizing.
The article didn’t even say the man was arrested, beaten to a pulp by bystanders who weren’t fainting or shivering. WTF
Nobody would’ve been shocked if he (or they) had done this to an infidel, like Nick Berg for instance. Now they’re shivering.
Indeed, we have enough wackos committing this type of ‘domestic-despute’ murders here ourselves, thank you.
Stupid and sick things happen in this country every day.
There’s plenty of criticism of radical Islam and Saudi Arabia to go around.
I’m not going to pin this one on religion or politics.....
Coming to a mosque in your town...
This sort of violence, unfortunately, is systemic to Islam. George did a great disservice to the world’s moral clarity when his ribbon-cutting on the war on terror started with “Islam is a religion of...” (I can’t bring myself to use his actual words.
“Peace will come when the Arabs will love their children .....”
What? No ROP Alert? Remember, Islam is a religion of Piece(s).
lol no, you weren’t abrasive, any more than I am sometimes.
As for the PC thing on the rop, I of course have no problem saying Hussein’s full name. This PC mentality isn’t a good sign, as we have enough problems with so-called conservatives now excusing and explaining away the GOP’s liberalism.
Amen!
