The GOP did this to themselves. Unfortunately, abandoning the GOP for the Jackass Party is like jumping from the frying pan to the fire.

This just confirms that we are well on our way to a full socialist government. The dems are the party of big government and it seems that more and more people are being convinced that government is the answer to their problems, and who doesn’t have problems. So the beat goes on...

If people have a choice between a Democrat and a Democrat they’ll vote for the Democrat.

It looks like Dick Morris is correct about Hilde bringing women into the fray this fall, that accounts for the largest part of the “growth”.

That said, our current GOP leadership is not exactly firebrands of either Fiscal or Social Conservatism, that doesn’t help at all.

If I remember the numbers from a couple months ago, things were trending back in our direction on this type of poll with Rasmussan. It would seem the interest in Obama and (maybe) Clinton during these primaries have increased those identifying themselves as Dems. I would expect this will subside some as the petals fall off the Obama rose, and the thorns become visible. Between the two in the race, there are no issues being debated because they both share the same views on almost every issues.

The gains for the Democrats were especially strong among women.

This isn't surprising at all. Most of us have a strong aversion to war - but even more so for women. And the fact that the war in Iraq has gone on for so long just makes it worse. They just want our sons to come home.

A few months ago, the morning radio guy cited some survey claiming 50% Democrat ID. Wouldn’t it vary greatly depending on who conducted the survey?
