The elders, steaming over the Obama photo smear on the other side of the world, announced plans to convene a traditional tribal court to deal with the matter.
The court could require Clinton to pay a fine in livestock, which is of great value in the far-flung Wazir region of Kenya. The photos were taken there during a visit by Obama, whose father was born in the area.
"We will go ahead with this case whether Sen. Clinton or Democratic Party leaders turn up or not," Mohamed Ibrahim, a member of the clan that hosted Obama during his 2006 trip to the country, told Reuters.
"This whole thing can be avoided only if an apology is made," he added.
But Clinton knows her cows - she recently suggested in Texas that Obama was "all hat and no cattle," and has made a mint investing in cattle futures in Arkansas.
The elders earlier this week called on Clinton to "clear her name" in the controversy.
The photos of Obama - wearing a turban and white tribal robes that are traditional in northern Kenya and Somalia - got worldwide attention after the Drudge Report posted them on the Web, along with a report that said the pics came from Clinton staffers.
Obama has battled a whisper campaign by those who wrongly say he is Muslim, and his aides accused Clinton's campaign of "the most shameful, offensive fearmongering" after the photographs were published.

Yesterday I read a similar article in The Independent, a British paper.I tried to post it but the source doesn;t allow posting on FR.
You can search the web for the article with this title.
Kenyans: ‘Apologise for Obama photo’
Make sure you read the last line which I quote below...
“If there was no apology, the elders would demand the expulsion of US troops based in the town of Garissa.”
“Get a hold of yourself man. That would be a picture of a cow with mad cow disease!’
Know how you can tell if a cow has mad cow disease?
It go’s Moooooo,damn it.
:)
It seems that the Kenyan 'elders' would prefer to have al-queda members in the town instead of American troops. We should let them have their wish.
"Oh, you want us to return and clean up the terrorist trash that moved in while we were gone? Sorry, we're busy elsewhere....helping people who appreciate the blood that we spill every day in order to make the world a better place."
Can anyone explain what the elders are complaining about? Do they take umbrage at being photographed? Do they consider their tribal clothing a private matter? Do they resent being used in a political attack on a man they consider kin? I know that some consider their suit insincere, but what is the alleged insult?
From the article:
"Kefa Otiso, a Kenya expert at Bowling Green State University in Ohio, said the use of the photos for political purposes is a sensitive subject because it mocks the generosity of the tribal leaders, who were honoring Obama by dressing him in the clothing of a clan elder. "
Stoat translation: "Tribal elders see an opportunity to get several thousand head of cattle for free"
“It seems that the Kenyan ‘elders’ would prefer to have al-queda members in the town instead of American troops. We should let them have their wish.”
I don’t think the Christian Kenyans would appreciate that.
Undoubtedly true....in which case they should 'persuade' the Kenyan tribal elders to be more hospitable to the American troops who are protecting them from just that very fate.

Sorry, no camels, goats, or cows are available. Would a few pigs do?
You're quite welcome :-)
But I still don't see how circulating the photo is mockery
I would suggest that when a hotly-contested political campaign and the potential for millions of dollars (as well as several thousand head of prime cattle) in an unearned windfall are all at stake, seemingly innocuous things that would otherwise be overlooked are suddenly and magically found to cause offense, particularly when you have hysterical, emotional issues such as racial and cultural politics at play and particularly when it involves the one political party that has so very forcibly inflicted the sickness of divisive racial politics and 'the cult of the perpetually offended' upon not only the United States but on much of the rest of the planet as well. In such a foul, seething cauldron of money, greed, ego and unhinged, apoplectic hysteria you're bound to have incidents like this crop up now and then.
It's still early in the year and there's lots of time until the election, after all. Plenty of opportunity for more 'offensive incidents' to recur between now and November.
This is just silly.
Agreed, and I would imagine that you are looking at these events through the lens of sanity, reason and coherence.....none of which lend themselves particularly well to anything involving the Dems :-)
Somehow, I'm guessing that they would be far too offensive for the Kenyans.....
If she dose not pay them I see this as a win for hillery
you have two candidates one dressed as a muslem (obama )
and one who is willing to stand up against them (hillery)
Tip to Hillary!:
Invest in cattle futures...
LOL! Perfect.
Ya know? Legally, you can't deport someone born here.
OTOH, exile...
