American companies will be driven our of business. By the way GM is paying $14.00 and hour with no benefits to new hires. Also, American Axle just settled a strike where they tried to make existing workers take a 65% pay cut...new hire will receive the same as GM workers. This is not good for the country. American companies are on the ropes and their government as usual gives them the shaft-typical.
You know what, plenty of Repubs employed in manufacturing are going to have to consider Obama because the Repubs are destroying our livelihood. When the US government sends jobs overseas that is unacceptable.
I am a conservative, and I see the handwriting on the wall. Why do you think Obama and Hillary are having a fight to the death over NAFTA? Free trade which has not worked well for the average American is disliked by a large percentage of the country. This is an issue that can be used to defeat McCain. I don’t like McCain anyway so I don’t care. As usual the Repubs are tone deaf-with the survival instincts of lemmings.

Second, the article is false in saying that only 1500 jobs will be created in Alabama.
There are 230 companies in 40+ states that are going to create at least 14,000 new jobs for this project.
More like the plane that Airbus HAS built and is currently in testing.

Alabama GAINS 7000 jobs.
Florida gains 2000
Other states gain an average of around 2000 jobs.
The wings are going to be made in Tennessee and Alabama.
The metals for the airframe will be produced in at least 3 different states.
Same goes for the engines, landing gear, refueling equipment, avionics, etc, etc, etc.
For the LAST TIME 230 companies in over 40 states benefit from the new tanker deal.
Get it through your head, and read something other than some Seattle liberal snot rag paper.

Unions are now accepting 14.00 per hour and no benefits. What more can they do? Sending jobs overseas in wrong. For the Feds to do this is disgusting.

Jeff Sessions admitted on Lou Dobbs on Friday that the planes will be assembled in Alabama. These new jobs you speak of do not exist. I know it’s hard to believe that our government would award a contract with so little reward and with complete disregard for the American workers, but they did. Of course, we don’t know what they received from Airbus in the way of incentives for themselves or their campaigns-they certainly did not get jobs. If all the jobs you say we are getting existed people would not be so upset. Think what you want. The truth will become evident in the days ahead.
Hey... I could care less if France(Airbus), Mongolia, China, Egypt, etc. makes the airframe. As long as the contract is legit and from trustworthy companies and the Air Force believes the offer to be better than Boeing; the government has vetted the deal and all parties were given a fair opportunity... I have no qualms about it.
I simply want the best products for our military. I sincerely hope that each time the U.S. bid is the strongest, but if not than so be it.
The unions are the ones responsible.
But what can the unions do? How about stop holding an axe over the heads of the companies for starters.
Second they should stop ripping off those employees they claim to “represent”.
Another thing the unions are responsible for is the American work ethic going down the crapper over the past 50 years. Why should a worker make an effort at working hard and putting pride into what they do when all they have to do is meet some puny quota for the day knowing full well that they can get away with slacking off and not worry about being fired because of the union?
The unions make it so companies can not compete by demanding too much while not giving anything in return.

Washington D.C. House Armed Services Committee Ranking Republican Duncan Hunter (R-CA) today criticized the Air Forces decision to award the KC-45A tanker contract to Northrop Grumman-European Aeronautic Defence and Space Company (EADS). In the following statement, Hunter points to the negative impact the Air Forces decision will have on American workers and local communities:
Northrop Grumman-EADS claims that the Airbus tanker will be made domestically. However, by Northrop Grumman-EADS own data, only 58 percent of the new plane and its components will be built in the United States.
Northrop Grumman-EADS further claims that 27,000 new jobs will be created domestically.
Comparatively, Boeings 776 tanker is 85 percent built in the United States.
The direct impact of the Air Forces decision is not an increase of 27,000 new jobs, as Northrop Grumman-EADS claims, but a loss of 12,570 American jobs.
Furthermore, local communities throughout America will lose a total of one hundred thousand jobs over the period of the contract since billions of American taxpayer dollars will now flow to Europe.

1.) The 767 line was being shut down anyways in order to build the 787 “Dreamliner”
2.) Boeing said that the employees would be transferred to other production lines within the company IE NO JOBS LOST.
3.) Check your facts since most of Boeing’s parts are made overseas in places like china and are shipped to Boeing for assembly.
4.) Boeing only had 8 companies on board for the tanker program. EADS on the other hand has over 230 AMERICAN companies on the tanker program making items such as the wings, engines, landing gear, refueling equipment, avionics, etc.

Don’t worry, sally here knows of what she speaks. Those 37,000 US jobs we would have used in manufacturing military fuel tankers over the next decade would have kept Wichita as a major player in aerospace manufacturing, as it has been for a 100 years. But there won’t be any production job losses, because they won’t have to hire them now. And all those engineers and techies slated to work on the project, well, we could all use more diversity coaches and insurance salesmen.
