So, with only 109 different plates for Floridians to choose from including Save the Manatee, Support Soccer and one with John Lennon's glasses Brown has filed a bill proposing a "Confederate Heritage" plate. It would feature the famed rebel battle flag symbol, which is very big among Civil War buffs and NASCAR fans.
Brown says it would give motorists a way to show pride in their heritage, but that flag represents a heritage of treason, bigotry, hostility, division and an overall ugly time in American history. No way should his plate proposal become No. 110.
Confederate plates and flags are available in many stores, and that's a free speech right. But such a symbol doesn't belong on a state-sponsored tag. If you are proud to be a Floridian, there are enough other plates available to show it.
how many times ya gona post the same story
I heard about a gay pride license plate in one state, if the government can put out a plate about sexual deviance, I think the rebel flag should not be any problem at all.

Yeah that keep the hate alive stuff is awful.....:o)
John Lennon lived in Floriduh? Who knew?
Mississippi has this Battle Flag incorporated into our State Flag... It does not represent what this post says that it does! I find this statement racist and bigoted... This Flag stands for nothing that this post states that it does. It represents all of the Confederate soldiers that fought and died in the war. It represents the suffering and atrocities committed upon our people and lands. The South lost, became loyal American Federalists and now represents the last bastion of Conservative America... We have earned the RIGHT of honoring our past and heritage. America has honored every fallen enemy that we have ever fought... but we cannot honor fellow Americans that fought for something that they believed in? Racist and bigoted is all there is to it.

One could say the same thing about the American flag...
I would suggest a tag that says . . .
FloriDUH
As I have said before, if you have a plate like this expect a “slave heritage” plate next for people who are descendants of slaves. The same arguments for creating it apply in both cases.
Personally I don’t think the government should be issuing any of these kinds of plates, whether or not I am in agreement with the sentiment of said plates. If someone wants to send the message on the plate they can buy a bumper sticker.
I grew up being told by Jessie Jackson that my forefathers were racist but those old Great Great Grandfathers can not hold a candle when it comes to racism and hate coming from both camps of the far left and elitists liberal Democrats.
Just the lowly opinion of a red state wannabe.
