'US missiles' kill 13 in S Waziristan

PESHAWAR - At least 13 militants, including some foreigners, were killed and 11 others were critically injured as three missiles, allegedly fired by the US forces, hit a house in Kaloshah area of Wana District in South Waziristan Agency on Thursday, eyewitnesses said.

However, the locals informed that three missiles fired from an unknown direction hit the house of Malik Khel Wazir at Shero Village, Kaloshah Azam Warsak area at midnight, killing at least 12 people, mostly foreigners, and injuring 11 others critically.

Exact identity and strength of the foreigners killed in the incident has not yet been determined, but the locals informed that they were either from Arab countries or Central Asia.

An Al-Qaeda fugitive from Egypt is also reported to be among them.

However, the officials claimed that there was a seminary near the house, which was used by the militants as a shelter. It is highly believed that the US forces, either from Afghanistan side or from Arabian Sea, fired the missiles. Residents of Azam Warsak village in South Waziristan told AFP that a house was blown up by a missile fired from a pilotless drone and the loud blast was heard kilometres away in the rugged valley. “A house used as a den by Al-Qaeda and Afghan Taliban militants was hit by a missile. Thirteen people were killed and around 10 were wounded,” a senior Pakistani security official told AFP. The militants were using the house as an “operational base” for attacks on NATO-led and US troops in Afghanistan, as well as a meeting place for Taliban and Al-Qaeda militants, the official said. Chief military spokesman Major-General Athar Abbas told AFP that information from the area indicated that the deaths were caused by explosive material stored in a house.

No.

We’re doing this in conjunction with the Pak military, going after the lawless ones in the lawless region.

If there were no BHO, this would still be happening.

That’s not what BHO advocated. He said if the Paks didn’t do the job and didn’t agree to our doing the job, we should force our military upon that country.

here's a piece in a Paki paper - it ends with this:

(http://pakobserver.net/Editorial02.asp) Let Pakistan deal with the militants on its side of the border in its own way with the cooperation of the locals and avoid creating problems for us as we have already suffered a lot.

Yep, that's work good in the past few years....

Of the Egyptians available for targetting:

Abu Obaidah al Misri was killed with al Libi

Ikhlas al-Masri is still alive and operating al Qaeda in Nuristan and also Kunar

That leaves al Zawahiri, Midhat Murfi al Sayid Omer, and Saif al Adel as the only high-level Egyptians that would have warranted this kind of missile strike.

By the way, pretty solid intel today that Gadahn appears to be alive.

We now know who was appointed by al Qaeda to replace Mansoor Dadullah: Aslam Pakistani is the new commander and Muhammad Al Shahrani, deputy. These names are aliases, for now.

Please what? We were hitting Al-Qaeda/Taliban targets already years before Obama uttered his stupid comments on bombing Pakistan. The Al-Qaeda/Taliban bases are in Waziristan, a remote region where the Pakistani Army itself was fighting for years. We attack Al-Q in concert with Pakistan.

So- it’s still a possibility that we got him?

If not- maybe we flushed him.

Damn - well, at least he's not sleeping too sound these days = or nights.

Ikhlas al-Masri is still alive and operating al Qaeda in Nuristan and also Kunar

May 'they' get him before the Spring Offensive ramps up much more - that would quiet things down for a bit in the Kunar, where we have small bands of troops living and fighting in he*l - where the terrain is a close second in danger

Hey I’m glad we’re getting the bad guys, and I like the fact that we know where some of them are.

I don’t think three missiles killing 13 guys is very efficient, however, and it’s a very expensive way to kill them.

And I’m with a lot of folks in this country who think that while we’re so precise in getting these a-holes, it’s not really getting rid of the cockroaches.

It’s time for the media to report that the bad guys in Afghanistan and Pakistan accidentally nuked themselves. Unfortunately, there were no witnesses or survivors, and the radiation is so bad that there cannot be any on-site investigation in the near future.

This will be our 9/11 memorial for all the world to see and feel.

I could sign off on that - sounds 'plausible' to me ;o)

I suggest Daisy Cutters with each blast to make sure the entire area where the missiles hit do the maximum damage. Who knows, perhaps Osama will have been traveling in his Rolls to pump up the troops after his daily prayers in Rawlpindi.

Didn’t know that. I heard the ‘B’ is larger, implying greater range & payload.

No, he's alive, out of the area. Gadahn is a major asset to AQ and they know the entire FATA is compromised and are moving their assets out, to the north, Uzbekistan and the Caucuses.

(Declassified):Their world is getting very small, our new base at Ghakhi Pass and its four satellite bases allow us to look down and raid with virtual impunity. We also have new AC-130 ELINT platforms along with Predators flying regularly out of Paki airfields.

AQ could take their marbles and go, and we will follow.

When you think about it, it is insane that Pakistan would allow two armed groups: us and al Qaeda to fight each other in Pakistan on land that is essentially rented out to us by its own people, Paktuns, that are paid to work for both sides. That is the essentials of this fight.

War a go-go. Semper fi, carry on.

I pray that is so - get the pressure off the Kunar?

However, what about the Taliban that ooze in and out over the border between the FATA and the Kunar, especially the Korengal which they consider theirs - indeed, where they dominate?

Will they follow their partners in crime or will they still be the very real danger in the Kunar?

Google Predator B. There’s a lot of information on the web. Some pictures even. Looks like it’s got two Hellfire launchers on each side. They look like two rail launchers. It’s pretty easy to modify the launcher to remove the bottom rails.
