Obama's mom: Not just a girl from Kansas
Chicago Tribune ^ | March 27, 2007 | Tim Jones

Chip Wall can't help but zero in on the little stuff whenever he watches Barack Obama on TV.

It's his old pal Stanley.

For Wall and a few dozen others, Obama on the campaign trail often brings to mind Stanley Ann Dunham, Obama's mother and a strong-willed, unconventional member of the Mercer Island High School graduating class of 1960.

"She was not a standard-issue girl of her times...

"She touted herself as an atheist, and it was something she'd read about and could argue,"

the only child was a ... daughter of a father who wanted a boy so badly that he named her Stanley -- after himself.

Stanley Ann Dunham's formative years, spent not on the Great Plains but more than 1,800 miles away on a small island in the Pacific Northwest.

Stanley Dunham died in 1992, and the Obama campaign declined to make Madelyn Dunham, 84, available.

In 1955, the chairman of the Mercer Island school board, John Stenhouse, testified before the House Un-American Activities Subcommittee that he had been a member of the Communist Party.

The marriage failed. Stanley Ann filed for divorce in 1964 and remarried two years later, when her son was 5. The senior Obama finished his work at Harvard and returned to Kenya, where he hoped to realize his big dreams of taking a place in the Kenyan government.

Years later, Abercrombie and another grad school friend looked up their old pal during a trip through Africa.

At that point, the senior Obama was a bitter man, according to the congressman, feeling that he had been denied due opportunities to influence the running of his country. "He was drinking too much; his frustration was apparent," .

To Abercrombie's surprise, Obama never asked about his ex-wife or his son.

Obama, whose first name in Swahili means “one who is led by God,” was raised by his mother and grandparents at their home on Beretania Street.

Obama, whose first name in Swahili means “one who is led by God,” is the same as the winged steed called El Burak ("lightning") that carried Mohammed through the seven heavens into Allah's presence.

Obama campaign declined to make Madelyn Dunham, 84, available.

Until Barack needed her as example of a white racist - - then he pulled her out of the closet.

I meant what I said because it is the earliest years of a child's life that has the biggest effect on how they turn out.

You mean those years in which Obama was in Jakarta? Where he was surrounded by Muslims, studying Islam, spending time in the prayer room, wearing a sarong and attending extracurricular Mengaji classes?

I gotta agree with you!

You don't get it. What his mother was has a lot to do with who and what he is.

In "Dreams," he inadvertently sheds some light on his formative years and the political views of his mother, an anthropologist and Islamophile who hated America and subsequently goes native.

"Looking back, I'm not sure Lolo ever fully understood what my mother was going through ... why the things he was working so hard to provide for her seemed only to increase the distance between them ... He landed a job in the government relations department of an American oil company. ... Sometimes I would overhear him and my mother arguing in their bedroom, usually about her refusal to attend his company dinner parties, where American businessmen from Texas and Louisiana would slap Lolo's back and boast about the palms they had greased to obtain the new offshore drilling rights, while their wives complained to my mother about the quality of Indonesian help. He would ask her how it would look for him to go alone, and remind her that these were her own people, and my mother's voice would rise to almost a shout."

"They are not my people!"

The Jesuits say that the personality is formed by the age of seven. I have heard that psychiatrists say this happens by age 6. Obama arrived in Indonesia at age six. For the next three years he attended a Catholic school.

I would never argue with a Jesuit.

The Jesuits will also tell you that non-Catholic students enrolled in Catholic schools are exempted from religious instruction.

I was educated by Jesuits and we had non-catholics enrolled at Boston College. They never had to study theology, like the Catholics did.

The Jesuits would also tell you that the home has more of an impact on the development of a child than the school.

That picture (which is somewhat cropped here), immediately tells me that she was a good mother.

Even though you laugh, after looking at the photo again I stand by what I said before. I have a little boy. I know what a happy little boy looks like. I know that the most important thing in a little boy's life is his relationship with his mother. I've seen how a lot of mothers hold their children and how they look as they do so and how their children react to them. My reaction to that photo is that it shows a good mother rather than a bad one.

This is not the reason for my reaction, but I think that most people would agree that if a woman has a son who grows up to be president, she was probably not a total screwup as a mother, no matter what kind of president he turns out to be.

"The boy who is sure of his mother's love is born to be a conqueror." -Freud. I know that this has a lot to do with why my own son seems so confident.

I’m laughing even harder now. She was suchhhhhhhhhhh a loving Mom that she dumped her half black embarrassment on Gramps and Tut. Of course she kept her pretty (and white) baby girl with her all the time.

Either #1, you are an Obot or you are seriously in denial or delusional. ONE photo, ONE! ONE! ONE! photo out of a lifetime and you can see that she was mother of the year and he was the happiest baby ever. I think you are an nuts. I’m sorry, but I have to think you are just yanking people’s chains.

I wonder where all the other photos are. The ones with the proud mommy when he was an infant, her first baby, first and only grandchild. Where are all the happy family photos, with Dad, grandparents and mommy? hmmmmmmm Maybe it wasn’t such a happy time. Maybe it was a shameful time, a time of lies and deceipt.....

I wonder why his the book Dreams was all about a Dad he never knew and was not very kind to his oh so loving mommy? hmmm

You attribute his presidency to his weirdo mom? His grandparents raised him you fool. He is president for many reasons and 1 of them IS NOT because he had a loving, responsible mom. The reasons he is president are many, and none of them honorable.

What you said is beyond idiotic. I could argue it all day long and present facts but it’s really so stupid, I am not going to waste my time. Freud said a lot of things, some of them ridiculous.

“I cannot think of any need in childhood as strong as the need for a father’s protection.”
Freud in Civilization and Its Discontents

Freud also said “America is the most grandiose experiment the world has seen ... but, I am afraid, it is not going to be a success.”

Freud is just... well Freud.

Freud thought the world was either orally or anally fixated.Little did he know that there are at least 4 more ways to be fixated.

I believe Freud was olfactorily fixated, He had a huge sniffer, bit of a fart smeller IMHO.

You can imagine what I think of that stupid A$$HAT Obot you be talking to.He is fixated on messianic protocols.Must have an inferiority complex and a notion of fixation on some kind of compensating behaviour for his own old factory guilt.Maybe he be sniffing too much Pushy.

http://astuteblogger.blogspot.com/2008/10/naughty-obama-mamma.html

Obamas assumed mom was a two bit whore with delusions of gandeur that Obama wants the American people to inherit. We be giving it back.(Obama may be his “grandfathers” son, by an unknown black woman.).

No thanks to that puke.Obama is about to be run out of town.

If 0bummer's childhood was positive for him that throws out almost every criterion of conventional wisdom on what makes for a positive childhood experience.

No father figure in his first five years. A cold and distant step-father for two or three years. One brief meeting, a few minutes, with his bio-father. Abandoned by his mother to his grandparents just as he comes into his adolescent years. Gramps likes to drink whiskey and take little 0biWon to a bar in the red light district and hang out with a whiskey drinking pedophile. The whole bunch of them are flaky Neo-Marxists who go to a faux-Christian church that welcomes every religion under one roof. With Marxism over it all.

All notions of stability as a meaningful factor have to be tossed out. No stability in parenting. No stability in home. No stability in nationality. No stability in education. No stability in spiritual training. Marxism is the only thread that runs through it all in all the characters involved. Communism is the only touchstone in all aspects of his life.

His sole source of security, comfort and inspiration has been the ideology of complete dependence on government. He was taught that by every one of those people including his mother. They didn't even pretend that they were any of those things for him. They taught him that all people will let you down even us. You can't even depend on yourself. Your only hope is to have the audacity to trick people into loving you and that for the sole purpose of bringing to fruition the one thing you can depend on. Communist governance.

Do not trust people trust government.

Do not trust a nation trust government.

Do not trust inner strength trust government.

Do not trust a higher power trust government.

Marxism isn't just a philosophy of governance to him it is the entire fabric of his being.
