Court Won't Block State From Penalizing Employers Who Knowingly Hire Illegal Immigrants
A federal appeals court has refused to temporarily block Arizona from implementing its new law to penalize employers who knowingly hire illegal immigrants.
The order by the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals denies a request for an injunction during an appeal. Opponents are appealing a federal judge's order that upholds the 2007 law aimed at helping curb illegal immigration.
Business and other advocacy groups made the emergency requests to the 9th Circuit.
The appellate court's order says it balances the seriousness of the issues, the challengers' likelihood of success, the possibility of irreparable harm to the challengers and hardship to both sides.
The law took effect Jan. 1 but prosecutors have temporarily withheld filing any cases so courts could consider the legal challenge.
Opponents of the law had argued it would burden employers and poison Arizona's business climate. They said the state lacked the legal authority to regulate immigration.
Supporters said the law was needed because the U.S. government has not adequately enforced a federal law that already prohibits employers from knowingly hiring illegal immigrants.
But But .. but ..
Good.
... the children ... but, but, but ... the poor ... How can you hate so much ... They'll die ...
If they can’t convince the 9th circuit they should give it up.
The 9th circus court is allowing the law to be enforced during the appeal? Unbelieveable.
There have been so many back door changes to our laws and cultural norms due to activists judges. I sure hope McCain if elected will appoint conservative judges to the courts. We need more judges who will apply the law, not make the law, and not create new social policy based on their rulings.
9th Circus did this? They must be planning a judge-shopping spree.
Amazing. Ninth Circus sees the light?
A step in the right direction!
The title fooled me. I thought illegals were renting out band stands to protest the law.
Great! and surprising.
It is against Federal law, and has been for years. I worked as a payroll supervisor some years ago- mid 70’s and it was not legal then to hise the illegal intruders.
Just because there are more of them today, that doesn’t make it any better for this country to keep supporting intruders.
Does Dick Clark know about this? Has it got a good beat and can you dance to it?
Holy crap, the 9th ruled this? Do we need to start shipping snow parkas to hell?
Unbelievable, simply unbelievable that the 9th circuit can rule on the side of Americans. Was someone in their clan kidnapped and held for ransom by the Mexican Mafia?
>I sure hope McCain if elected will appoint conservative judges to the courts.<
Prepare to be disappointed. You don’t get conservative judges from RINO’s.
......Unbelieveable......
I agree. If they couldn’t reach down into the bag and dredge up something, no one will.
btt
Surprising but good news.
