PRINCE HARRY FIGHTS ON FRONTLINES IN AFGHANISTAN; 3 MONTH TOUR Thu Feb 28 2008 11:01:34 ET
**World Exclusive**
They're calling him "Harry the Hero!"
British Royal Prince Harry has been fighting in Afghanistan since late December -- and has been directly involved in gun battle, the DRUDGE REPORT has learned.
The prince, a junior officer in the Blues and Royals, and third in line to the throne, has been a "magnificent soldier" and an "inspiration to all of Briton."

His Uncle, was flying helicopters in the Falklands...and he was assigned the task of decoying incoming missiles, away from the ships....
So some prince is more valuable than an “ordinary” soldier?
I was mostly thinking of his father. What honorable thing has that man ever accomplished?
God save the Prince...
sw
No kidding.
Even if the British throne meant anything, the guy is 3rd in line.
Ain't EVER gonna happen for him, so 'good on him' to do something for his country instead of just parasite off it.
Why didn’t the Slimes break this story? Inquiring minds want to know.
“The peon who sends their son or daughter to the front line doesn’t get special treatment or dispensations.”
Sure. But this fella just became Taliban target No 1, which not only multiplies his chances of catching a bullet by several thousand but also the ordinary men and women serving alongside him.
Drudge should be ashamed.
I’ve removed his page from my bookmarks and won’t be visiting it again.
In his statement, Sir Richard [Chief of the General Staff Sir Richard Dannatt, who is head of the British Army] said: "I am very disappointed that foreign websites have decided to run this story without consulting us. "This is in stark contrast to the highly responsible attitude that the whole of the UK print and broadcast media, along with a small number of overseas, who have entered into an understanding with us over the coverage of Prince Harry on operations." "After a lengthy period of discussion between the MoD and the editors of regional, national and international media, the editors took the commendable attitude to restrain their coverage. |
You're right, he may not have agreed to anything. It really doesn't now as more updated news accounts point to Australian New Idea magazine and German daily newspaper Bild as the ones to break the news, not Drudge. He still didn't scoop anyone.
“the life of his fellow soldiers as Harry would be a prime target.
Thats the very reason his request to serve in Iraq was declined. Its not just his life but all around him at risk (even more risk than usual as such a rich targeet).
Brits have reason to be proud of him and his service.”
I feel as proud of him as if I were his mom! My boy went to Iraq in 2006 and came back safely.
Prayers up for Prince Harry, one of Princess Diana’s fine sons, indeed. What a corker! Red hair, red in the face when he’s gets mad but true blue in his courage and loyalty. God bless ‘em!
All from the Guardian:
The army which decided last year it was too dangerous for Harry to serve in Iraq deployed him to Afghanistan on condition that his whereabouts remained a secret, in case he became a Taliban target.
The news of the operational posting leaked out following the breakdown of a blackout agreement with the media, when the story was posted this afternoon on the US-based Drudge Report website.
The Drudge Report initially said it had taken the information from a story last month in an Australian women’s magazine, New Idea, although it later claimed a “world exclusive”.
The chief of the general staff, Sir Richard Dannatt, who is head of the British army, expressed great disappointment over the leak.
However, no decision has yet been taken as to whether Harry will remain in Afghanistan.
“I am very disappointed that foreign websites have decided to run this story without consulting us,” Dannatt said.
“This is in stark contrast to the highly responsible attitude that the whole of the UK print and broadcast media, along with a small number overseas, who have entered into an understanding with us over the coverage of Prince Harry on operations.”
You are as despicable as the NY Slimes and all the rest.
You KNEW what you were doing.
You have put a bullseye on Prince Harry and his whole unit = His face is now tacked up on the HVT board of every Taliban outfit. I pray for them that they are not killed because of YOU =
For the rest of your life - you can look in the mirror and see a traitor whose personal gains are more important than other lives...
May you, for the sake of Prince Harry and the troops, not also have to see a murderer...
You are OUT OF my links, forever
Somehow I am impressed that the Brits will let the third in line go to hot zone in Iraq when half of NATO won’t risk anybody there. Could be the Brits are braver. Could be they are foolhardy. Brave it is, I say. Way to go Brits.
The cat's out of the bag - flash point - now on CNN, etc
WTF
The "entire UK media" knew about it all along but agreed to keep it quiet!
Surprising in itself that any media had that much decency - but there it is.
Drudge didn't "scoop" - he ratted
And the 'Prince" didn't want or ask for "special treatment" - seems you've got a little envy showing? He can't help being born who he is - kudos to him for his service...
If pulled back, it still isn't 'special treatment' for him, but for the protection of everyone -
“I was mostly thinking of his father. What honorable thing has that man ever accomplished?”
You don’t rate Naval service it seems?
Most would consider Prince Charles’ career in the Royal Navy, including command of a ship, to be an honourable achievement.
Maybe you've missed the part about Prince William...training as a pilot in the RAF
And Prince Andrew served in theater during the Falklands War as a chopper pilot - with distinction?
