Where California's second race date should be?
Vegas, Baby!!!
“If it was as simple as you or would think it would be, NASCAR wouldn’t be hauling Carl’s car all the way back to Charlotte”
Exactly. The COT is still a work in progress. We may not understand every engineering aspect of the car, so NASCAR is going to look closer to see what the problem is, as in a design flaw, or a rules violation.
Bringing up the Nationwide cars as an example of some kind of violation is not pertinent to the COT car. The Nationwide cars are of the previous design. So comparing 5 violations for oil coolers on Nationwide cars is a moot point in this current investigation.
I have been involved in racing for 2 decades. The oil cooler better work properly. Without the lid on securely, or the pitch of the cooler airflow at the correct angle the oil cooler won’t work efficiently. There are absolutely no advantages in an improper installation.
Hot oil breaks down and loses it’s lubricating efficiency. Turning an engine continuously at high RPM creates more heat and friction. If you have ever seen a bearing fail because of heat, you see an engine fail. I have seen it many times. Believe me. One cannot cheat on the lubrication of a racing engine because lubrication is the key issue in 90% of engine failures.
I don’t know where people can read cheating into this incident.
The CrackBerry from work. Hate the thing but have to have it. Came in handy this weekend, though.
That's what I was thinking. I'm sure Nascar will cite some new obscure rule to cover their butt if there is no advantage. I'm also sure Mikey will "explain" it to us tonight...
OOOooooo... a suction effect
clever.. how come nascar doesn’t want cars to stick as well as they could is what I might ask,, hmmmm..
Thanks for posting that.
got home a couple hours ago, after the race we were locked in the RV park till about 8:30 local so we Q’d up some centercut porkchops and taters.
left about midnight
Was very cool to meet you and your boy, we’ll have to hook up when we bring the boat down on a trip to Mead.
Thanks again.
will see if I took any pics that are worthy of posting, glanced the thread, you put up some awesome stuff, ‘cept a couple that looked like you were getting accosted by panhandlers or somethinmg.
btw you got knocked to the second most exciting thing we experienced this weekend, on our way out of the track we decided to hoof it to the RV cause the shuttles were on hold for an hour after the race, anyway as we got to the tunnels Richard Petty came out and crossed in front of us on a golf cart going to the helicopter pad
he stopped long enough to shake hands and I blorted some 10 word drivel about king, long time fan and missing old school racing
am out the door to Cal. more at the end of the week
bbl
Might seem insignificant, but at 190, who knows?
Dillos squeeked out a 200 after snaging another 43rd, thanks Smoke!
Oh come on, Jr fans are NOT whining about this at all!!
We are damn happy to have second place for a change. We are f’ing [Jr’s words] happy to be in contention.
Why do you always try to blame Jr’s fans for crap that goes on in the media and with Nascar???
This is why I don’t come here much anymore.
And Jeff Gordon deserves more than being called “rainbow boy” He’s a hell of a driver, could be the best out there AND he could have been killed yesterday.........so lay off him too!
(consider this one stolen)
Cool on seeing the King!
Glad ya made it home ok.
WCG, more pics from the bud that shot the hauler....him and his significant other had a 'free' day, courtesy of Sprint. They were on top of an RV close to the back stretch......awesome pics....
FYI: these pics were shot with a Sony DSLR A100....just thought I'd throw that out there. Giggle.
But now I'm ready when the wife asks, "What do you want for Christmas?"
Better watch your bumper!
GREAT shots! Thank you.
Awesome!
Take a look at the Sony A200 before ya decide:

I know! LOL
I just bought the Kodak z812 IS. Great camera for the $$. Did not want to spend the $$ on the high-end stuff. From the reviews I knew it had a real slow process time between shutter clicks, but I figured I would not need a real fast process time anyway.....
My 'figurin' had a flaw in it, now didn't it? Absolutely great pics he got.
I know the camera can make a difference, but for that, mine would have to come with an operator!
Not from my camera, a buddy that was in the infield.
I wondered how you got those shots across the infield from the stands.
What could you or did you see when Flash hit the inside wall?
The good thing about most of the digital SLRs is that they have an AUTO mode.
