Vanity - How the National Anthem was meant to sound!
An Email ^

Posted on 02/26/2008 5:45:52 PM PST by Slump Tester

This is a video of the Cactus Cuties, Young ladies ranging in age from 8 to 13 singing The Star Spangled Banner.

The performance was at the Texas Tech vs Texas basketball game January 20, 2008 in front of over 11,000 people.

These young girls can REALLY sing!

They did a very nice, no, wonderful job, but, can it please be done without swooping to the notes? It is a style of singing that drives me crazy. Flame away!

Wonderful, thank you!

It seems that whenever I read something about The Lone Star State here at Free Republic, it’s always about something GOOD happening there.....sure makes me want to visit :-)

(It sounds as though it would be a VERY pleasant change from The People’s Republic of Washington)

Do you know how to add “US: Texas” to the topics? I wish I would have done that when I posted it.

I hate it when some “rock star” sings the anthem and runs all over the scale and never finds the original tune!

Not a chance. If for no other reason than the CommieLibs hate the references to "the rockets' red glare, the bombs bursting in air". They say it's too militaristic, I say it's fine just the way it is.

Same here. I heard it called "Urban Yodeling" by someone...maybe Savage. Nonetheless, those girls can sure harmonize and sing a purty tune. I'll take their version over Whitney Houston's, or any other Motown/R and B version any day of the week.

This type of excellence should be broadcast on every news outlet. The performance of these children, and the respectful audience are a wonderful example!
