Neither am I, but the incumbents vulnerable, were desperate for seats, and Hucks national profile is now sufficiently high that he could march home and put Pryor back on his heels quick-like. Brian Faughnan makes a compelling case, particularly re: Huck using four years in the Senate to pound the table about border enforcement and winning the war to shore up his conservative cred for another presidential run 2012. Even if you think itd be insincere (as I do), we could do worse than having a media darling with preternatural communication skills on TV every other day arguing our position. SECOND LOOK AT CONSOLATION PRIZE FOR HUCKABEE!
Main problem: The filing deadline is March 10. Texas and Ohio are March 4. If McCain beats him in both states, which is highly likely, can he credibly turn on a dime after weeks of Aguirre-esque rhetoric and decide no, in fact, what he really wanted to do is be a senator? Especially after having said just last week that hed rather dye his hair green than run for the seat? Note to Huck: Conan OBrien doesnt need a sidekick.
Oh yes! He would actually made a very good senator. Good orator, has to be conservative since he claimed it so faithfully during the campaign, and Republican. I hope he goes for it.
I thought he was just going to start a New Mega Church.
He should move to NY and challenge Hillary.
It would be wonderful. He’s only 51 and could run for President again in 2012 if McCain only stays for one term or wait until 2016 or 2020.
Now this would be a Huckabee candidacy that all Freepers would be glad to support.
State Senator ACLU ADA
Arkansas Mark Pryor 56 90
I think Huckabee could do better than Pryor. And he wouldn’t be bad in the Senate. I just don’t want him in the White House.
Well he sure would get a lot of publicity if he actually did dye his hair green should he announce a Senate run........
I’m positively mild about Huckster.
Will he be running on the Republican or Democratic Ticket?
Last I checked (yesterday), Pryor was unopposed.
Finally a Senator who could make a devastating floor joke about Ted Kennedy and driving and not sound mean-spirited.
No.
He is not quite a media darling. He is more like a media Republican scarecrow. SEE? SEE? THIS IS WHAT A REPUBLICAN LOOKS LIKE!
I think he wants to, and can, make a lot more money than a Senator will over the next two years (or six if McCain pulls off a win and runs for re-election) before starting another Presidential campaign. Huckabee has earning power well into seven figures a year right now. What he needs to do is hit the speaking circuit, do radio and push the Fair Tax like crazy.
Yes. Senator Huckabee.
One less dem.
Hell, we’ve had Senator Clinton, Senator McCain, Senator Kennedy and Senator Spectre; no one will care if there’s Senator Huckabee.
I’m all for him winning back that seat though.
