An explosion shook the nortwestern Iranian city of Tabriz on Monday, but the cause of the blast and whether there were any casualties were not immediately clear, the semi-official Fars news agency reported.
Fars said the blast occurred shortly after mid-day and was felt across the city. (Reuters)
You’re welcome.
The Gaza protest passed without incident. Low turnout and no attempt made to cross the border. A non-event.
Maybe that was our first apology to Ahmed Amademigod.

“Iran explosion explained”
February 25 2008 at 02:12PM
Tehran -
ARTICLE SNIPPET: “”The operation to destroy the obsolete explosives took place in the barracks of unit 31 of the Revolutionary Guards in the suburbs of Tabriz. There was no damage.”
An official from the local governorate, who asked not to be named, said that the explosion went off south west of the city but did not elaborate.”
ARTICLE SNIPPET: “We have found the location of the explosion. It was in a place south west of the city,” the official said.
The Fars news agency said the explosion broke window panes, sent people rushing into the street in panic and was sufficiently loud to be heard throughout the city, which is the capital of East Azarbaijan province”
But the Einali mountain (first explanation / excuse) is north east of the city....
Oh well, it must have been an echo.
Well, maybe if we stand on our heads and read that article, it will be in the right location.
Smiling at you.
You’re right of course, “it must have been an echo.”
Putting this here for archival purposes.
Stepping back in time...

I wonder if we could get away with dropping a bunker penatrating nuke on the Iranian nuke facilities and claim that we didn't do it. They must have made a mistake in assembling it.
Terrorist have on the job accidents all the time.
Off Thread Topic (but posting it here for archival purposes).

“Earthquake jolts northwestern Iran”
Sat, 16 Feb 2008 13:18:59
“Earthquake hits northwestern city of Tasouj.”
ARTICLE SNIPPET: “An earthquake measuring 4.2 on the Richter scale has hit the outskirts of Tasouj, a city in the Iranian province of East Azarbaijan.
The quake occurred at 10:34 a.m. local time Saturday (0704 GMT), Tehran University’s Geophysics Institute reported.
The institute registered the epicenter of the quake in an area defined as 45.12 degrees longitude and 38.34 degrees latitude.”
As Carl says, read it all.
Conflicting accounts for the explosion - me thinks iran military may have had something go boom that was unplanned for.
Nope, no earthquakes today...the Space Shuttle is on the ground at the moment.
I loved that movie.
Reminds me of this joke:
Iranian president Mahmud Ahmadinejad calls President Bush
Iranian president Mahmud Ahmadinejad calls President Bush and tells him, “George, I had a wonderful dream last night. I could see America, the whole beautiful country, and on each house I saw a banner.”
“What did it say on the banner?” Bush asks. Mahmud replies, “ALLAH IS GOD, ALLAH IS GREAT.”
Bush says, “You know, Mahmud, I am really happy you called. Last night I had a similar dream. I could see all of Tehran, and it was more beautiful than ever. It had been rebuilt completely, and on each house flew an enormous banner.”
“What could you see on the banners?” Mahmud says. Bush replies,
“I don’t know, I can’t read Hebrew.”
Yes, I was thinking along the lines of a work accident, too.

Yes, and even the construction work is interesting — one is road work and one is a mountain tunnel.
