Its a lonely job, working the phones at a college rape crisis center. Day after day, you wait for the casualties to show up from the alleged campus rape epidemicbut no one calls. Could this mean that the crisis is overblown? No: it means, according to the campus sexual-assault industry, that the abuse of coeds is worse than anyone had ever imagined. It means that consultants and counselors need more funding to persuade student rape victims to break the silence of their suffering.
The campus rape movement highlights the current condition of radical feminism, from its self-indulgent bathos to its embrace of ever more vulnerable female victimhood. But the movement is an even more important barometer of academia itself. In a delicious historical irony, the baby boomers who dismantled the universitys intellectual architecture in favor of unbridled sex and protest have now bureaucratized both. While womens studies professors bang pots and blow whistles at antirape rallies, in the dorm next door, freshman counselors and deans pass out tips for better orgasms and the use of sex toys. The academic bureaucracy is roomy enough to sponsor both the dour antimale feminism of the college rape movement and the promiscuous hookup culture of student life. The only thing that doesnt fit into the universitys new commitments is serious scholarly purpose

Just wondering?
Johnnie Walker Black makes me wonder about all sorts of unanswered questions about the PC culture, and how we got here.
ML/NJ
I am NOT condoning rape, but there is a difference between rape and regret. Lost of young niave girls get drunk and say yes when “they are sure they would have said no!!!”
As someone who was close to a rape victim, I can assure you that rapists are more often uneducated, hatefilled and into criminal activities.
But of course, the feminists would rather go after the Duke Lacross Team.
Different article.
Just thought it may be of intrest, not trying to be one of those wacky thread cops!
Red does the same....
That’s an outside criminal assailant, not a fellow student.
After my freshman year I took a small survey of my high school friends, and half of us had indeed been victims of sexual assault or attempted rape by fellow students. No completed rapes, thank God. When it happened to me I was stone cold sober and miles from a party - my friends had likewise been sober. I think only one of us reported it.
The problem as I see it, was co-ed dorms, aggressive hormonally-charged young men, and young women not taught to recognize and avoid dangerous situations.
Speaking of which, when the criminal is an outsider, again students aren’t taught sufficient caution - they leave doors unlocked, live in apartments with unbarred windows in bad neighborhoods, travel unescorted - and are taught to feel guilty if their instinctive alarms go off - they are judging by appearances or even...profiling.
The perp is a black local, not student and is a career criminal. Rape is rape but we're not talking about a drunken frat boy here.
gee, if the victim is white I wonder if there will be protests and vigils and a visit from Sharpton

Very true. I went to school in University City in Philly and every new year some freshman got murdered (usually from UofP). Assualts were common and to make things worse, some of these students were so "green" that I wanted rob them to teach them a lesson.
I would warn people where not go - I was born and raised in Philly- and I would be rebuked with the pc blather - "they're missunderstood, you're racist, don't bother them they won't bother you". Utter nonsense.
They learned the hard way
Then stay away from the Johnnie Walker Blue!
Several Freepers who "knew better" took me to task and claimed that was a well-trained police force, first on the scene, prepared for everything, etc.
Looked pretty good until we went to the VA Tech Police site on the net.
What a disaster.
Full page and a half of how to report a campus rape before you got to the part about reporting deranged gunmen and other emergency situations.
Mind you that was AFTER the killings, not before. The University administration had had several months to refocus the website so that the first thing would be "REPORTING REAL CRIMES", "REPORTING REAL EMERGENCIES", "FINDING A COP".
My intellectual superiors who told me that VA Tech didn't have a rinky-dink operation disappeared and I haven't seen them back.
I would like to explore these thoughts with you but unfortunately I left my newly received, limited ediiton, Johnny Blue at the office. So you will have to ponder these intellectual and worthy questions without me.
