The dress, a purple shift, is almost ludicrously simple. The pearls around her neck are fakes, each one the size of a gobstopper, and deliberately so.
It is clear that the woman gazing out from the cover of Newsweek magazine has a message for anyone caring to glance at the news stand.
Yes, Michelle Obama is a glamorous lawyer with a big salary, a bigger house and a husband with one hand on the Presidency, but never forget that this is also the little black girl from Chicago who overcame the odds to change the face of American politics.

The document, now locked away by the university until after the election in November, betrays an angry, campaigning brand of politics which in no way fits with the mild-mannered advocate of common sense
Somehow this seems familiar.
Watch Any Of Her Speeches ... She Is An Angrey Black Woman!
Another lying lefty?
How boring.
Great article! What a phony she is.
She’s the black version of Scarlett O’Hara:
“Perhaps, when she contrasts her current red-carpet lifestyle with the unassuming world of South Euclid Avenue, she genuinely may think that her childhood was impoverished. And the one thing that is certain about the incredible Mrs O is that she never intends to have to live that way again.”
It says she grew up on the upper floor of a two-story house. Some other family lived downstairs? Am I reading this correctly?
Better yet, let her contrast her upbringing and achievements with those of Condoleeza Rice so she can see what it really means to rise out of poverty and opression to succeed.
The Obamas are just another baby boomer power couple, motivated by hatred and greed.
They are putting on a great act, and fooling lots of uninformed people.
Just like Bill and Hillary Clinton.
We could have had Romney.
No wonder she resonates so well with those born after 1975.

Didn't she admit that her grades were somewhat less than stellar and imply that she got into Princeton because of affirmative action?
A lot of big older homes converted to duplexes are like that.
This first time I looked in her face I said this is an angry person. She should have grown up as a poor white sharecroppers daughter then she would know what it’s like to be poor, overworked, unpaid, and no opportunity to advance. I am so tired of black people assuming just because you are white that you’ve had it made all your life,
that is utter stupidity.
She grew up always being "special", the best and brightest of her little peer group. She gets all the opportunities that a middle-class, politically-connected family can give her
Then she arrives at Princeton and discovers that she's not so special, that there's lots of people there that are so much smarter than her that she can't open her mouth in front of them for fear of being seen as an idiot. She realizes that, to many of her peers there, she's just an Affirmative Action token. She majors in Sociology, one of the refuges of mediocre students who can't make it in harder fields, and her inner rage seethes and boils.
One look at her pictures, and you can tell she's thinking "I'll show YOU! I'll show you ALL! You all will BOW to me!"
Welcome to Free Republic!
Now that’s funny, I don’t care who you are right there!
Didn’t she admit that her grades were somewhat less than stellar and imply that she got into Princeton because of affirmative action?
