You are right, America will survive an Obama presidency. Even though he will let Iran get nukes and all the rest of it.
Israel, on the other hand...

“So why are you working so hard, so viscerlly, so nasty, to turn votes against McCain?”
This question isn’t directed to me since I am not telling anybody how to vote for President this year.
Perhaps the answer to your question lies in finding out why McCain has been “working so hard, so viscerlly, so nasty,” against Conservatives for the past decade.

"Im getting the impression you only asked the question hoping to draw out people to attack."I'm getting the impression that you are correct (as if that surprises me). Those that don't intend to vote for McCain have been pretty detailed in their posts. This is just another 'get with the program and vote McCain' vanity thread, thinly disquised as a sincere inquiry.

The early primaries favored moderate candidates-quite deliberately I believe. In any case you have your candidate McCain-God help you! Macainiacs have posted over and over again that conservatives don’t matter in this election cycle...we will see. Personally, I think McCain will lose big-possibly in the Mondale sense of the word. McCain is a terrible candidate. Heckling and insulting people can not change this fact.

Boy there is an effective campaign tactic!
Don’t read, don’t think, don't try to rationally respond to legitimate questions about your candidate. No, just hysterically fire off your next overly emotional slogan, and bile, filled rant!
You people are the Democrats most effective campaigners

The problem with McCain are the McCattle who say “But he’s a republican” no matter how far left he goes.

I don't care, I am keeping my party pure of hissyfit hyperpartisans who don't give a darn about the country, and purging it of them is more valuable in the long run.

“What doesn’t make sense is why you push for a McCain and GOP loss.”
A McCain loss and a GOP loss are two different things.
In the long run, they are probably the opposite of one another.

I’m not voting for Obama but he has at least said he would make the illegals get in the back of the line. McCain says he’ll think about it.

"So why are you working so hard, so viscerlly, so nasty, to turn votes against McCain? If you truly feel as you do than go sit out November or cast your vote for your 3rd party candidate. That makes sense. What doesn't make sense is why you push for a McCain and GOP loss."
I reject the "so viscerlly (sic), so nasty" attribution as there is as much visceral & nasty coming right back at us. BFD.
I also don't personally call for a GOP loss (I don't GAS about whether or not McCain loses). I do wish that the GOP would come to its senses and shifts gears towards someone that we could vote for (I recognize that they have no intentions of doing so and mores the pity).
I may or may not pull the lever for him (Heavy emphasis on the may not), but whatever decision I ultimately come to it will be one decided rationally and not emotionally. What I keep hearing over & over (including with your thread) is that "McCain may be a POS but he is our POS so we need to buck up and support him (even though he has repeatedly turned his back on us and has demonstrated that he would rather consort with the likes of Hillary! and Kennedy than he would us).
I try not to spam the threads, but I have said before - If you support McCain you are supporting a crappy candidate. If you elect McCain you will be electing a crappy president. Not just GW crappy but Carter crappy.
The interesting thing is that even in your "A" classification of unequivocal McCain supporters there are few glowing recommendations for our little maverick. Rather there are the feel-good rationalizations of "Well he did dump McCain-Feingold on us, but he's really turned the corner on CFR" or "I know he has opposed GW's tax break initiatives, but he'll change - trust me!". And on and on and on...
The McCain candidacy is a rolling train-wreck that (if the unlikely happens and he actually manages to win) promises to transform into a McCain presidential rolling train-wreck. My question is: Are you gonna watch it from a safe distance or from the club-car?
And a postscript: To those who "enlightened" me that it isn't the "GOP" who chose McCain, it is the "people" - The "People" are drawn to osama-obama. There is no rational sense to it, but rather an entirely emotionally driven Lemming-like march to the sea. The only credible response is to prop up a candidate that reasoning people can turn to and enthusiastically support. Instead we have McCain, who gets tepid support at best. Wednesday morning is going to come with many hang-overs...

First the handwriting is on the wall for anyone willing to see it. McCain isnt going to win. Hes winning primaries with around half the votes Hillary is losing with.
Not a logical conclusion. It is quite likely people are bypassing the primaries because they see no differences in the candidates, or no candidate they are excited about. However, that does not mean they will sit out the general election. The Dem candidate is going to be bad news for the nation, and they may see McCain as a far less destructive course.
I don't know what I'm going to do yet.

Vote McCain. Every vote is needed and it’s all about the Supreme Court judges that will be appointed in the next 4-8 years.

I will blame those who didn't vote for him, whether of the right or of the left. Presented a clear choice between hawk and dove, capitalism and socialism, if the people freely choose the second on each score, then they are fully to blame for the hell that will then be paid.

This is really a very easy question. First McCain has no chance of winning. Look at the numbers of voters for Obama in the primaries, then look at McCain’s numbers. Then subtract all the crossover voters for McCain in New Hampshire and Florida. He can’t win, no way, no how. There will be no anti-Hillary vote if Obama wins, and even then, the Democrats are unified against any Republican candidate.
The McCain loss being a given, we have no motivation to support him and capitulate on everything that is important to us. Just look at that speech that McCain gave on energy, yesterday. He is making no effort to appease the conservative base, none at all. What makes you think he would do so after the election, if he won.?
