Saudi men arrested for 'flirting'

Relations between the sexes outside marriage is against the law
Prosecutors in Saudi Arabia have begun investigating 57 young men who were arrested on Thursday for flirting with girls at shopping centres in Mecca.

The men are accused of wearing indecent clothes, playing loud music and dancing in order to attract the attention of girls, the Saudi Gazette reported.

They were arrested following a request of the Commission for the Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice.

The mutaween enforce Saudi Arabia's conservative brand of Islam, Wahhabism.

Earlier in the month, the authorities enforced a ban on the sale of red roses and other symbols used in many countries to mark Valentine's Day.

The ban is partly because of the connection with a "pagan Christian holiday", and also because the festival itself is seen as encouraging relations between the sexes outside marriage, punishable by law in the kingdom.

The Prosecution and Investigation Commission said it had received reports of such "bad" behaviour by 57 young men at a number of shopping centres in the holy city of Mecca, the Saudi Gazette said.

The guardians of some of the men defended their actions, however, saying they would regularly get together at the weekend to have fun without ever violating laws governing the segregation of the sexes, it added.

I thought most FReepers had seen that already - Part 1 is the one with the "mushollah".

What I didn't say is that playing in the prayer room is definite 'no no' for children. An adult would have been there delivering spankings. I really find that part hard to believe. At a very young age here children are taught that there are certain places where you don't "play".

Ah, but they do care what we think. They get their panties in a wad when we make fun of them. But they make jokes of themselves, so how can we resist?

Muslims make the Puritans look like party animals.

Actually, the Puritans were not as "Puritanical" as thought in todays culture. They have gotten a bad rap. There are accounts of them having large parties, drinking ale and even co mingling between sexes.

Muslims on the other hand are tyrannical as where the Puritans were simple sober minded, righteous at least in their mind.

Well, they get their panties in a wad over the fact we live and breath as non Muslims.

But, I was referring to the commission, not the people of SA.

This is why they go nuts when they come tu the USA.

Or even just to Bahrain or Dubai. You see 'em all over the place there...they go there for the whoring and the drinking.

I see your point. The ridiculous commission is an entity separate from the subjects. I have a tendency to lump them all together in one big wad.

Wasn't there something in The Mikado about a law against flirting. The punishment was beheading, as I recall, but Gilbert & Sullivan's operetta was a comedy.

What were women doing at the mall in the first place?!?

I have no doubt that any unescorted women will be quickly identified and then either horsewhipped or stoned to death in the mall parking lot.

If the NOW gang here in the USA and other organizations around the world that supposedly exist to further the cause of women actually had an interest in accomplishing something useful, they would organize an 'underground railroad' to assist Arab and other Middle Eastern women in escaping this insanity, but as usual the silence from the feminazis is deafening when it comes to actually accomplishing something worthwhile.
