Russia could use force in Kosovo
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/europe/7258801.stm ^

Russia's ambassador to Nato, Dmitry Rogozin, has warned that Russia could use military force if the Kosovo independence dispute escalates.

"If the EU develops a unified position or if Nato exceeds its mandate set by the UN, then these organisations will be in conflict with the UN," he said.

In that case Russia would "proceed on the basis that in order to be respected we need to use brute force", he said.

Many EU members have recognised Kosovo, but several oppose recognition.

Russia, a permanent member of the UN Security Council, backs Serbia, which has condemned the independence declaration issued by the Kosovo parliament on 17 February.

On Tuesday members of the Serb minority in Kosovo attacked two border posts staffed by UN personnel and Kosovo police.

The violence led the Nato troops in Kosovo - known as K-For - to reinforce the border with Serbia.

Kosovo's majority ethnic Albanians are following a plan drawn up by UN special envoy Martti Ahtisaari for "supervised independence", which was rejected by Serbia.

Russian media outcry

The EU will soon deploy 2,000 officials to strengthen law and order in Kosovo, which has a population of about two million. Russia argues that the mission has no legal basis.

There has been a furious reaction in some Russian media to Kosovo's declaration of independence.

A commentary in the Vesti Plus analytical programme, on state-run television, called the assassinated former Serbian Prime Minister, Zoran Djindjic, a Western puppet who had "received a well-deserved bullet".

It said Djindjic had sold national heroes to the International War Crimes Tribunal in The Hague.

The programme concluded that Serbia - and not only Serbia - must now decide whether to acquiesce in what has happened, or resist.

“Criminality is not an acceptable criteria.”

Do these words have a meaning?

It’s not a question of “taking over”.

The issue is whether groups of people should be able to determine their own Government.

I am not in favour of any country being “taken over”.

>>>>Aren’t most of the Kosovans born and bred in Kosovo?>>>>

There is no such thing as "Kosovan". Kosovo Albanians are either legal citizens of Serbia or illegal immigrants and their offspring.

When a group of citizens oppose government and declare unilateral seccession, they violate the rights of ALL legal citizens of that country, violate the international law and create an international crisis.

Ethnic minorities DO NOT have the right of secession in ANY country.

You advocate the opposite. There are 200 countries and 10000 ethnic groups. Your recipe is recipe for bloodbath.

Your way of writing Kosovo stems from being a pro-albanian lobby. It is obvious you are either albanian or very close to an albanian (married to one or friends with them).

Kosovo has historicaly been spelled with an O, not an A. Albanians have always had problems with Delusions of Grandeur regards to their illicit claims on Kosovo, Macedonia, Montenegro, Presevo Valley. What is next, albanian claims to Italy and Spain coastal areas because many of you illegal trafficking jobs takes you to those areas. Thereby making it feel like a second home with all the runs you all do there?

pleni, spill it. What is your connection with the albanians? Your ability to say "you are for freedom" is one of ignorance. The illegal aliens in Calif, here in Texas..so they want "freedom", will you give them parts of Texas and California because they want "their freedom"??? Is that what you want?

You are in favor of a group taking a country over, you said so yourself. You are in favor of the albanians breaking Kosovo (Texas) away from Serbia (United States).

“There are 200 countries and 10000 ethnic groups. Your recipe is recipe for bloodbath”

The bloodbath will happen sooner or later anyway unless we find a way of peacefully giving these people the government they want.

“Ethnic minorities DO NOT have the right of secession in ANY country”

That is the problem. You say that, and the law says that, but the dictates of human freedom dictate otherwise. That is the problem for the 21st Century. No state can suppress a significant unwilling minority by the use of force.

The Russians left Bosnia in 2003. (As they left Kosovo too). 2004 saw SFOR replaced by EUFOR.

http://www.nato.int/SFOR/indexinf/articles/030620c/t030620c.htm

Think about it? even if Russian peacekeepers were in Bosnia who do you think controlled and operated the airfields?

From a Russian perspective it was all hot air, later toned down. Russia can do absolutely nothing militarily. No neighbouring nation is going to give them overflight rights in order to pre-positon military equipment in Serbia.

I’m English, no connection to Albania or anywhere else, and I’m certainly not a Muslim.

Homogeneous groups of people must be able to govern themselves. That is freedom. Get over it.

The issue is whether groups of people should be able to determine their own Government.

So, we are being philosophical.

Using your criteria, how large must the "group" be? Two? More?

Use of the word "group" gives me the impression that you discriminate against the individual? Must be a Statist!

Also, is there a specific area requirement?

I feel like a stranger in a strange land!

No, you are in support of illegal aliens in Texas who want to breakaway and form their own lil Mehiko/mexico. That is exactly what you are saying.

Don't spread that crap you wrote, it does not fly. You have connections to the albanian community. Yes, I am an American!!!! But, I was born to "Serbian" parents. Don't BS a BSer, pleni of BS.

Then you support the Bosnian Serbs of BiH and the Croatians to do the same? yet, the EU is denying the Croats and the Serbs to do what the albanians are wantint to finalize in Kosovo.

Because this is a new question, the answers have not been decided. Therefore I can’t give an answer to your quetions about how many etc.

But nevertheless the practical questions must be answered definatively in time.
