WASHINGTON (AP) Defense Secretary Robert Gates says the United States is prepared to share with China some of the information it has about this week's U.S. satellite shootdown.
His comments came after Beijing complained the missile strike could cause harm to outer space security and some countries.
Gates told reporters during a visit to Hawaii that the United States is prepared to share whatever it can "appropriately" share with China.
The Pentagon said earlier that debris from the obliterated satellite is being tracked over the Pacific and Atlantic oceans but appears to be too small to cause damage on Earth.

Why do we have to? They can't get Fox News?
There was a satellite up there yesterday. It isn't there today. The reason why is because we hit it with a big missile. That's all we need to be telling anyone.
I don’t have a problem with showing off to the Chinese just how good we are at hitting satellites. Sure, show them we can swat their missiles out of the sky. Let them figure out how we do it.
1. Here's a picture of a satellite in orbit. Much like any of your satellites, for example.
2. Here's us knocking it out of orbit with our cool tool. You don't have one of these.
3. See how little the pieces are? Teensy-Weensy. Like your... satellites could be.

Calm down, people.
Well...yeah.
Chinese are probably concerned that some lead based paint might survive re-entry and land on their territory.
Just wait till Hillary is CIC.
The Chinese will be fed up to their ying-yangs with US classified material.
Just more of the nutty brain-dead liberal globalism eminating from the White Flag House
Did Obama already get elected? I missed it somewhere. Oh wait we still have BooshBama
Bleep the Commie Chinese. Let them whine
Cant believe some of the posters on here think this is “no big deal”...yikes
Gloating! Amazing how many on this post see it as being weak kneed.
Then again.
No, I'm not.
And you know this how?
We will essentially tell them when and how we will destroy the satellite, and how much debris is left in orbit and for how long.
The when was yesterday. The how was a missile. As to the rest, let them send someone up to count the pieces.
In negotiations, it is sometimes desirable if your opponent understands his and your best alternatives to a negotiated agreement. Translation: “I’ve got ‘hand’.”
That is the funniest damn cartoon I’ve seen this year!
Good One! LOL
This shows to the world we can take out any missiles coming our way. A great message to Iran and North Korea!
will disclose information that is “appropriate” to share: “OK boys, missle went up, very big explosion, satellite came down in very small pieces, that’s all.”
Send them the data via missle......
