Hello American friends! I’m Dalibor and I’m from Serbia!
First of all, I would like to express my deepest apologies for what has happened today. It is certainly not the way to express our feelings, and I strongly condemn this criminal act upon your embassy! I beg your forgiveness because of our foolishness!
But I want you all to try and understand how we are feeling now. A part of our land which has been the cradle of our nation has been taken away from us. Over 2000 churches and monasteries are taken away from us, some of them are over 600 years old! The historical field of Kosovo where our knights fought the Ottoman empire, and died to the last soldier in 1389 defending Europe from Islam has been taken away from us! Our own identity has been taken away from us!
Please understand that we are sad, mad, and outraged!
Once again I beg your forgiveness and may our God Jesus Christ save us all from these kind of things happening to us all. Thank you!
Welcome to FreeRepublic. And, a number of us are already aware of your thoughts.
Well, I can certainly understand it. I don’t think the destruction of the Embassy was right, by any means, and I hope strong Serbian voices come out and say so. But at the same time, this whole thing was so sudden and seemed to happen with no announcement, no discussion, no nothing, that I can see why the response is so enraged.
Dalipro,
Read through the thread and you will see that many here understand history and the situation in Serbia and actually support the Serbs and oppose our government’s recognition of Kosovo. Many here know Kosovo is Serbia’s cradle and its holy land. We pray for justice for the Serbs and others in this complicated battle. We are in this together, my friend.
I hate that our embassy was attacked and imo, protect it at all costs. However, I side with the serbs on this and understand. No apologies necessary. This is so screwed up. It doesn’t make the demo on our embasssy right by any means. we’re a scapegoat again! Bomb or attack the mosques, make a real statement. I’ll have much respect for the serbs if they start burning down mosques or burning the Koran.
.
Welcome, Dalibor.
I understand where you’re coming from. I am sure your nation is feeling like they’ve been left hanging from a cliff with a very frayed rope about now.
I posted about this the other day here;

I for one understand how you feel completely. Clinton got us involved in a conflict that has been going on longer than his brain has the ability to contemplate. If Bush had any sense he would have been out of there years ago. This is none of Americas business and we should never have been involved in the first place.
Now Bush has come out on the side of this session which is a compounding of the earlier stupidity. What happened to his promise that he would not be a nation builder? What national interest of the USA is there in being there? We dont have a horse in this race.
Any moron that thinks they are going to go into the Balkans and fix it is not looking at history and that is a very stupid thing to do when you are running a country.
So what have we got here? We have major powers lining up on each side of this because some of them shouldnt be over there and the others cant let this secession stand because it causes problems all over the world if it does!
Well GW this is a fine mess youve gotten us into!
Welcome to Free Republic and I feel the same way...
