Zogby: McCain Loses To Obama, Beats Clinton
Politics on the Hudson ^ | Feb. 20, 2008 | Joseph Spector

The latest Zogby International/Reuters poll today shows that Barack Obama has a sizable national lead over Hillary Clinton in the Democratic race for president and would also beat Republican candidate John McCain in the general election.

And to help Obama’s argument to be the party’s candidate, Clinton would lose to McCain 50 percent to 38 percent. Obama would beat McCain 47 percent to 40 percent, the poll found.

A poll 9 months away from the GE is virtually meaningless.

Okay. I conclude that this Zogby poll is meaningless.

Not only is the poll meaningless because it’s about an election so far away. It’s meaningless because it’s Zogby, who always gets things wrong.

That said, I have an intuitive sense that Obama would be a slightly tougher general election candidate than Clinton.

As I recall, Zogby's track record hasn't been that stellar over these past several years.

That said, I'm inclined to agree with the findings. Hillary is incredibly polarizing and turns off a lot of fence-sitting Dems, which would make McCain more appealing.

In the McCain vs. Obama scenario, I think Obama would win simply because running an angry, old coot liberal against a younger, charismatic liberal is a losing proposition for the Republican party.

Draw your own conclusions.

The poll shows the obvious. Hillary is hated, Obama can win the middle. People cheering for Obama to beat Hillary, will get Obama as President.

My conclusion? There are more Anybody But Hillary voters than there are Anybody But McCain voters.

A national poll is worthless in a system where state-by-state electoral numbers are the basis for victory.

When asked whether the election would be held 9 months from now, 47% of those surveyed said it would, 41% said it would not, and 12% had no opinion.

Obammy getting support from the Islamics will help him out. Plus the fact that all the idiots will vote for him as if he is the second comming. He will be walking on water next.

Maybe we can get Bob Dole to run again. That is, if he’s not suffering from the Viagara side effects of a sustained erection for over four hours.

Zogby’s cooked the books before and oversampled Democrat voters to depress the GOP base on election day.

And what happens to Mrs. Bill Clinton’s poll numbers when Obama is her VP?

How much did Zog’s al Qaeda buddies and relatives pay him to make this prediction?

I remember all the talk about Zogby’s “special sauce” back in 2000 and 2004-then Zogby’s results turned out to be a lot more accurate than the more ‘comforting’ polls. Will history repeat itself in 2008? Probably the only thing that can prevent a BHO election is BHO’s murky past and his idiot wife’s big mouth. :-(

The last Zogby poll I saw showed Romney winning Florida by about 5 or 6 points.
