For McCain, Self-Confidence on Ethics Poses Its Own Risk [McCain had an affair?]

Early in Senator John McCain’s first run for the White House eight years ago, waves of anxiety swept through his small circle of advisers.

A female lobbyist had been turning up with him at fund-raisers, in his offices and aboard a client’s corporate jet. Convinced the relationship had become romantic, some of his top advisers intervened to protect the candidate from himself — instructing staff members to block the woman’s access, privately warning her away and repeatedly confronting him, several people involved in the campaign said on the condition of anonymity.

When news organizations reported that Mr. McCain had written letters to government regulators on behalf of the lobbyist’s clients, the former campaign associates said, some aides feared for a time that attention would fall on her involvement.

Mr. McCain, 71, and the lobbyist, Vicki Iseman, 40, both say they never had a romantic relationship.

Good.

I hope the NYT shoots their wad early. Wanna knock McCain out with scandal? Do it NOW, before the convention. We won’t complain.

“Yet he calls me a racist.”

He doesn’t even know you. You are at once hyperbolizing and personalizing statements that are at most political polemics. That does not equate with personal detraction and attacks on a person’s character and his family, which is seriously wrong. This over the top rhetoric against someone who served his country bravely and honorably under very hard circumstances is just shameful. You disagree with him on issues. Fine. Vote for someone else. But do you have to get personal? Doing that does not diminish the person who is attacked as much as it does the attacker.

So what's the charge?

That 10 years ago McCain's staff thought they might be having a romantic relationship and kept her away from him.

How's that for front page, breaking New York Times news? </sarcasm>

I don't really see an issue here.

Some of his aides told ONE (1) bimbo to get lost 8 years ago?

Thats not all that earth shattering.

"Is obama any better though?"

Of course not, but is that the only reason to vote for McCain? Geez, is this the best we can do? If so, we have done this to ourselves. Or as Pogo once said "We have seen the enemy, and he is us!"

Even worse the lobbyist may have aided in the crafting of telecom legislation. McCain may have screwed the taxpayer along with Iseman!!

Interesting from the WaPo article you posted:

“Iseman, 40, who joined the Arlington-based firm of Alcalde & Fay as a secretary and rose to partner within a few years, often touted her access to the chairman of the Senate Commerce chairman as she worked on behalf of clients such as Cablevision, Echostar, Tribune Broadcasting and Paxson Communications, according to several other lobbyists who spoke on the condition of anonymity.”

Secretary to partner within a few years.

If you believe that you are insane. I don't mean that figuratively, I mean literally insane.

The CIA started the Viet Nam War.

The CIA controlled the North Vietnamese.

Illuminatis?

Al Capone?

This is troofer crap. And you are a troofer crapper.

Let me repeat: YOU ARE INSANE. GET HELP.

First, who she is the daughter of is really out of her control.

Second, I will always feel sorry for the person who ends up married to a cheater. I do not care who or what the circumstances. There is never a good excuse.
