Early in Senator John McCain’s first run for the White House eight years ago, waves of anxiety swept through his small circle of advisers.
A female lobbyist had been turning up with him at fund-raisers, in his offices and aboard a client’s corporate jet. Convinced the relationship had become romantic, some of his top advisers intervened to protect the candidate from himself — instructing staff members to block the woman’s access, privately warning her away and repeatedly confronting him, several people involved in the campaign said on the condition of anonymity.
When news organizations reported that Mr. McCain had written letters to government regulators on behalf of the lobbyist’s clients, the former campaign associates said, some aides feared for a time that attention would fall on her involvement.
Mr. McCain, 71, and the lobbyist, Vicki Iseman, 40, both say they never had a romantic relationship.

It’s possible McCain’s campaign leaked it in order to get it over with now, as opposed to later in the year when he’s more vulnerable.

I hope this isn't news to Cindy. She's already in for a lot of harsh treatment because of her own unfortunate mistakes. I would never wish this on her, though I guess the fact that he did it (if he did it) is worse than the exposure. Still, if she is just finding out this has got to hurt.

The only way that radical Muslim (which I don't believe) socialist (I'd say communist) is not going to be the next President, is for Her Thighness to get the DemonRat nomination. Then McCain would have a fighting chance. Those two worn out and downright mean old farts fighting it out would result in an interesting election night, but I agree with those whose analysis says that McCain will be like Goldwater in the electoral college if Obama is the 'Rat candidate.
