Early in Senator John McCains first run for the White House eight years ago, waves of anxiety swept through his small circle of advisers.
A female lobbyist had been turning up with him at fund-raisers, in his offices and aboard a clients corporate jet. Convinced the relationship had become romantic, some of his top advisers intervened to protect the candidate from himself instructing staff members to block the womans access, privately warning her away and repeatedly confronting him, several people involved in the campaign said on the condition of anonymity.
When news organizations reported that Mr. McCain had written letters to government regulators on behalf of the lobbyists clients, the former campaign associates said, some aides feared for a time that attention would fall on her involvement.
Mr. McCain, 71, and the lobbyist, Vicki Iseman, 40, both say they never had a romantic relationship.
Either way, I don't accept this NYT story. We already know about the "Keating Five", and the rest of it is just the word of a couple former McCainiacs 2000 who've now turned against "Mr. Straight-Talk".
I do not like Senator John McCain. I never have, and I expect I never will, but I will vote for him nevertheless, considering the alternatives.
I would love to know the "rest of the story" behind this scurrilous (sic) media report?!
It gets better!

Wait a second - even if this is true, and it sounds pretty vague, I thought we all stopped worrying about cheating spouses with Bill Clinton? How can it be okay for Bill but not for McCain? McCain never came out of church with a ten pound bible in his hands. This is shoddy journalism. I am not a McCain fan. I wanted Rudy. But it’s amazing to me how the NY Times can be counted on to find some piece of slime, whether substantiated or not, and fling it rightward over and over again. Screw this sickening turn in journalism. This just makes me determined to vote McCain in November.

It had to be a cold feeling, when he realized he was duped by his “enlightened” friends.
Okay then, dealing with the mob is now officially off the venue since the guy with an R after his name is still in the running.
f*ck that.
Careful now Cindy has a PAST tooooo, somebody BIG TIME bailed her out.
ha! gotta love it
To be honest with you. McCain is now getting his just desserts. He has played to the MSM love for stabbing his own party and US citizens in the back for too long.
I wonder if he is crying on Juan Hernandez’s shoulder tonight?
His response was a non-denial denial. Well, I won’t feel too bad if it’s true or not. He sure feels no shame for slandering people who just want our borders shut and laws enforced. Boo Hoo.
Is that the only reason anyone can give for voting for John McCain? That is pathetic.
Sounds logical to me.
Maybe they hired Mary Mapes.
“Careful now Cindy has a PAST tooooo, somebody BIG TIME bailed her out.”
Every sinner has a past, and every saint has a future. I only mentioned Laura Bush’s past, and vaguely, because the previous post attacked Cindy McCain explicitly and quite viciously.

HAHAHAHA
Silly Nonsense!
I predict that McCian blasts the NYT tomorrow morning, and it’s all blown over by 9 AM.
Unless of course the NY Times has more slime?
LOL... keep living in delusions and why you are at it go and pound sand.
According to Wiki and my feeble memory, Gary Hart was a groomsman as McCain and Cindy's wedding.
