For McCain, Self-Confidence on Ethics Poses Its Own Risk [McCain had an affair?]

Early in Senator John McCain’s first run for the White House eight years ago, waves of anxiety swept through his small circle of advisers.

A female lobbyist had been turning up with him at fund-raisers, in his offices and aboard a client’s corporate jet. Convinced the relationship had become romantic, some of his top advisers intervened to protect the candidate from himself — instructing staff members to block the woman’s access, privately warning her away and repeatedly confronting him, several people involved in the campaign said on the condition of anonymity.

When news organizations reported that Mr. McCain had written letters to government regulators on behalf of the lobbyist’s clients, the former campaign associates said, some aides feared for a time that attention would fall on her involvement.

Mr. McCain, 71, and the lobbyist, Vicki Iseman, 40, both say they never had a romantic relationship.

I agree 100%. McCain will be demolished regardless of this story.

Great, then your dreams will come true. Obama and Michelle will be crowned King and Queen of the USA and you can live happily ever after.

McCain must now step aside, and Romney needs to get back in.
Romney endorsed McCain and sent him his delegates. Now McCain must return the favor.
For the good of the party.

William Jefferson Clinton pretty much immunized politicians from this sort of stuff.

I was actually watching Hairball and then Olbermann broke in with his breathless breaking news.

I have NEVER watched Olbermann.

What an optimist.

If this is true, I don’t like Huck, but don’t blame them, blame your not so trustworthy well known, dump his crippled wife who waited on him to get out out of jail, man, John McLame. Besides, why should this bother you, this kind of stuff never bothers liberals. In fact, you should like him even more.

Right? The GOP is movin’ left, this stuff ain’t no big deal.

The same thing could be said about the lies about Iraq War and how America is so evil.....and alot of our fellow Americans eat this stuff up like candy.....
I do not have much faith in McCain in the sense that he can overcome all the trash that will be thrown his way.......Flame me as you will, but that is how I see things these days....

Right, so when Keith Olberman and Pinchy Sulzberger tell you to bend over you bend over.

Got it.

“This is the bombshell” get a life. Why should this destroy McCain? After all if true it is his private life. Isn’t this what we were told in regard to the bent one? It is his business not ours. Slimes are in the sewer again along with the scum at msnbc. We will be better off with McCain rather than the two empty suits that the democrats have out there.

I don’t recall a FReeper thread but I do remember that there were “rumors” on the MSM that McCain had an affair with an intern, and that as a senor Senator he together with Ted Kennedy and Bill Clinton were always on the Zipper Patrol’s Watch List!

I’m surprised that the GOP hasn’t heard about this. If also recall McCain went so far as to deny and surpress the story.

You have to understand, there are people here on FR who would destroy the country thinking they would get *their* way in 2010 and 2012.

These people cannot think beyond their hands and and don’t comprehend that dems usually attempt to screw the country after promising to do so.

I just read the whole thing at NYT there’s nothing to this, but a bunch of rumors that are at least 8 years old. I didn’t see where McCain was being accused of any particular thing. Was there some other breaking scandal?
