Five years later, Mr Bush is saddling Europe with a new rogue state.
Unfortunately, this is true. Kosovo is going to be Europe's Iraq; a place for jihadist terrorists and murderers to operate from.

The rushed decision to recognize Kosovo was a huge blunder. I’d expect if from the emasculated Old European nations, but the Bush Administration really should have known better.

Do you think this is Bush’s payback to Europe for it’s hatefest the past several years? We’re busy out there taking care of real terrorists in Iraq and Afghanistan while the know nothings in Europe give us hell for doing what also benefits them. Could be that revenge is a dish best served cold.

It seems that the State Department is calling the shots rather than the president and THAT really sucks.

As much as I like LittleGreenFootballs, Charles seems to have a mad-on about Brussels Journal, so I’m not sure what he’d say about this. But I think we just made a big mistake here with Kosovo.

Facilitating the emergence of a new muslim state in Europe is just stupid. Militarily intervening in a civil war with the object of depriving a nation of its own sovereign territory was beyond outrageous. I couldn’t believe Bush, Jr. and many Republicans jumped on the bandwagon supporting Clinton’s involvement in that travesty. I really can’t believe the West can be so ignorant as to cede the the right side of this black and white affair to Russia and China.

Close.
Kosovo is going to be Europe's Atzlan.
I expect there will be a loud “separation” movement in the southwest US any time now.

We in the “right” would also be opposed to an American war against Serbia and Russia: It would be very interesting as we could see (depending on how Israel) comes out in this scenario neo-cons and paleo-cons and all other conservatives against islamic radicalism allied with the ‘peace-movement’.

This isn’t ignorance. It’s about oil & money. Muslim countries have oil & money for campaign contributions to US politicians. Kosovo Albanians have money from sex slavery and selling Europe its drugs for campaign contributions. The rest of us with no oil, who plow the straight and narrow with real jobs just can’t compete and fill their campaign troughs the way that oil and drugs can.
In case you haven’t noticed, Muslims are using our addictions against us

I think the author greatly overestimates Bush’s knowledge of the situation. It was clear Bush was clueless when he just blurted out his support, totally unaware that the State Dept hadn’t even recognized the terrorist state.

Do you think this is Bushs payback to Europe for its hatefest the past several years? "Independence" of Kosovo could not happen without eager support of large European countries like Germany, France, Italy. It is not a "US only" affair.

I only know the issue well enough to realize the Serbs are good people and see the magnitude of the injustice. Undoubtedly there is a healthy mix of corruption involved.
