For the first time, Chinese official medias boast heatedly that China now can effectly detect&trail F22.
Chinese official medias tends to keep silent to military project.but now, they abnormally openly boast its indigenious AWAC,KJ2000. Some medias even boasts that KJ2000 is the most important defence achievement after A-bomb,nuke sub and Shenzhou spaceship. Almost all members of CPC's politburo ,including president Hu and PremierWen, have sent their congratulations the researchers.
the medias reveal that KJ2000 now are being mass-produced. they also report that KJ2000 can effectively detect&trail normal 4th G aircrafts like F15/flanker/F16 700 KM away. Furthermore,KJ2000 also can effectively detect&trail F22 200+ KM away.
"KJ2000 now completely overtake Russia's A50 and Isreal's Phalcon." the meidas say.

"Pussy Galore..."
Cheers!
Ain’t that a grand lookin’ picture?
Few things beat the look of some fine females...:)
It is not the truth.
The message is not posted by Chinese official medias but a Hongkong media instead.
In the official report, it just refer the AWAC as “a new vital aircraft” without mentioning any features. I do not know where they found its ability to detect F-22. As a matter of fact, Chinese official medias rarely report any military progress, let alone the detailed functions.
It is not “China boasts its new AWAC” but somebody else.
It would be able to direct targeting to the general area. The Raptor’s primary concern would probably be fighters, not SAM missiles.
The claim was that they could detect it - not that they could filter it out of all the clutter. Looking for only high speed targets would eliminate birds, but at that resolution I imagine there’d be a lot of clutter. Even if the AWAC could spot them, it wouldn’t present much of a danger until the technology can be made small and light enough to be packed into a fighter’s air to air missiles. With the advanced avionics packages we have were still far ahead of the game. As you mentioned - there’s more to stealth than a low radar profile. As with the bombers avoidance and jamming is also factored in.
Im of the opinion that the same people who were critical of the Raptor from the beginning have changed tactics. Now they realize the cant criticize the plane for its performance and theyre trying to convince people that its no better than much less expensive aircraft - because our potential enemies can see it.
Your saying detect without locating? Like a blind man in a warehouse hearing thunder outside, so he knows there was lightning somewhere? Possible.

Sounds right. FYI, There was a Serbian several years ago that proclaimed stealth dead by claiming that he could use cell towers to track the F-117. Now that makes sense, at least in theory, because the radar signal does reflect off the stealth aircraft and go in all directions. Thus it could be triangulated if the math was perfect, using a large array of scattered receivers. The big problem with that, is that it is the easiest type of system to spoof, as it can't filter out anything based on direction, Doppler, signal strength, etc.
The U.S. can detect and track the fragments of the China AWAC, as it falls to earth.

China is trying to present itself to the world as a leader in the military technology field. This would fit in with their version of "creative advertising."
Maybe they have a few Madison Ave. types working with them. I'm suddenly reminded of a commercial running on TV for a new easy weight loss pill. A young woman makes the statement "And 78% of the weight loss is PURE BODY FAT!" I wonder what the other 22% is.
