“Still, how much do we really want a contest with Obama?”

Messiah vs Maverick?

Let’s see:

Mind-numbed sheep soldiering forward for “Change!” vs what’s left of the Republican base willing to hold their nose one more time....

It’ll be a massacre. A Republican massacre. McCain would have a better chance against Hillary. Both are vile and thought so by many in their respective parties so that’s equal and Hillary doesn’t quite have the cult-thing going for her....

Calling me a name because I wont vote for a liberal. Your kind has given us John McCain.

They're behaving exactly like liberals - name calling in lieu of intelligent dialog. Not too surprising since they are backing a lib.

Don't take it so personally!... The world is not about FR. If someone put s provocative "headline," many people will open it, even outsiders... and those are my target.

I am perfectly aware, that the brainwashing/transformation of Macaca is about to begin and so we have the right and duty! :) to express the side of the opposition. See my point? but if you don't, too bad.

They are ready to flush America down the Toilet to prove how pure they are.

And you don't believe that McAmnesty will not be flushing the GOP and the country down the toilet when he grants Amnesty to the 20-40 million+ Illegal Alien invaders in our country?

What about the millions more that will come in chain-migration that McAmnesty refuses to address?

What about the millions of conservatives that will walk away from the GOP because your turd of a candidate does his best to alienate them by granting Amnesty?

Wake up!

OK now maybe we can have a discussion.

I didn’t ask for your thoughts on McCain. I asked for your thoughts on the Second Amendment.

You framed your reasons for joining today, as partly because you spend a lot of time on shooting boards. Seems reasonable.

So you most likely have some strong opinions of RKBA. It would seem obvious, you would have no need to quote others, or point to McCain. Should be simple, and interesting to all of us, if you would please tell us humble readers, your thoughts on the Second Amendment. In some length.

We’ve all got our own. Consider this, if you’re willing to be so challenged, to be something of a hazing. :)

In your own words, what are your thoughts on the Second Amendment. What is the meaning of “militia”?

Are handguns, different from long guns under the Amendment?

How about new firearms? Is an AR-15 covered?

A flintlock?

Let’s hear it! Might be a more interesting topic, and it’s going to be part of what makes up some FReepers’ minds for the next election, I would imagine.

Looking forward to learning something about your positions, on those firearms boards you mentioned.

Thanks. :)

McCain is another compassionate conservative, rino. At least he’s pro-life, pro-gun, balanced budget, and pro-defense. I cannot say that about the other two.

"McCain" and "conservative" shouldn't be in the same sentence.

McCain will have the backing of the RINOs in congress for his liberal policies, while those same RINOs would oppose the exact same policies from one of the Dems. McCain will destroy the GOP from within, while one of the Dems would unite it, if it's still possible, that is..

We settled for Bush, and now we have a much worse lib. If we settle for McCain, who would we get next? Kennedy with an R next to his name?

I thought he delivered a very good speech tonight. I’ll reserve the use of the word “great” for a speech on par with Reagan’s during his tenure. While I’m still not enamored of McCain, I’m cognizant enough to know what’s at stake in this election, and will not cast a vote that ensures our defeat by putting either Hitlery or Obama in the CinC seat.

"Enjoy President Obama, you complete dummy. "

One thing I have noticed with a lot of you people that are supporting McCain - when people don't agree with you, you call them stupid childish names.

Don't you realize how desperately hysterical that makes you sound?

Really.

McCain doesn’t want to take your guns. He understand, perhaps better than most, why they’re important.

John McAmnesty has a very tarnished record on 2nd Amendment issues. Just ask the GOA:

Well, we lived through Jimmy Carter. (Not that I'd want to go through THAT again!)

I came across this blog tonight. I liked it:

I am an American before I am a conservative February 18th, 2008 By John F. Allen

I am an American conservative not a conservative American. To me they are two very different things. I recognize the extreme danger America would face from a Democrat president.

There is no chance I would ever vote for a Democrat or stay home. America is too important to me. I am sick of people playing politics with the future of my country.

Given the choice between the conservative movement and my country, I will vote for the safety of America in a heartbeat. I will never vote to teach the country a “lesson” with a Democrat president. I don’t play with my family’s safety. The election of either fallen away Muslim or a woman will infuriate our Islamist enemies.

The “experts” playing with this fire can make believe this won’t be the case, but they are wrong.. But we should not allow them pick our president you say. I agree.

The Democrats are for higher taxes, open borders and Ruth Ginsbergs. McCain may/may not give us higher taxes, he may be persuaded to close the borders. We will have a better chance of getting a Roberts not a Ginsberg from McCain.

The real issue is national security. There is no comparing a Democrat Commander in Chief with McCain in that position. With Iraq is becoming a winning situation, why are so many conservatives willingly joining liberals in making believe the War on Terror is over and we can start spending the “peace dividend?”

I’m 100% pro life. McCain is about 95% pro life. Either Democrat is zero pro life and in fact Obama supported a bill to euthanize inconvenient born babies.

We won’t get a truly conservative president this time. We can always rebuild the conservative movement during and after McCain, but we can never rebuild America after Democrats destroy our America.

McCain is a liberal compared to many Republicans. But Obama is liberal even by Democrat standards. He can do enormous damage in 4 years.

McCain can destroy the GOP, from within. If you think it is fractured now after Bush, just wait and see what will happen to it. Obama, on the other hand, won't be able to damage the GOP or conservatism, just the opposite most likely.

I see Huckabee is barely beating Romney in the Washington Primary (22% to 20%).

It’s pretty bad when you barely beat a candidate who not only dropped out 2 weeks ago, but has already endorsed your opponent and asked his supporters to vote for your opponent.

Of course, he’s also losing to McCain by about 25%.

I hope that your words do not fall on blind eyes, but I fear they will. Some seem hell bent on jumping off of that cliff before voting for someone who will not surrender our troops to the enemy. Lemmings.

America can survive four years of John McCain.

The GOP and conservatism cannot.

But, in the end, it won't matter anyway. After an amnesty, under any of the 3, the number of Dem voters will outnumber us and the GOP will never be in power again. Not a conservative GOP, anyway. The next 50 years will drastically change the landscape of this country, so the next 4 are NOT that critical. It will be the continuation of the socializing of this country and nothing will stop it. McCain might even accelerate it because the Rs in congress likely won't oppose him (ie., the R Senate passed his amnesty bill).
