OK now maybe we can have a discussion.

I didn’t ask for your thoughts on McCain. I asked for your thoughts on the Second Amendment.

You framed your reasons for joining today, as partly because you spend a lot of time on shooting boards. Seems reasonable.

So you most likely have some strong opinions of RKBA. It would seem obvious, you would have no need to quote others, or point to McCain. Should be simple, and interesting to all of us, if you would please tell us humble readers, your thoughts on the Second Amendment. In some length.

We’ve all got our own. Consider this, if you’re willing to be so challenged, to be something of a hazing. :)

In your own words, what are your thoughts on the Second Amendment. What is the meaning of “militia”?

Are handguns, different from long guns under the Amendment?

How about new firearms? Is an AR-15 covered?

A flintlock?

Let’s hear it! Might be a more interesting topic, and it’s going to be part of what makes up some FReepers’ minds for the next election, I would imagine.

Looking forward to learning something about your positions, on those firearms boards you mentioned.

Thanks. :)

Why? Length is not necessary. Nor does it lend anymore weight to the argument than quoting the operative clause of the 2nd Amendment. I believe as Tench Coxe: “Every terrible implement of the soldier is the birthright of every American.” Do you?

“In your own words, what are your thoughts on the Second Amendment. What is the meaning of “militia”?”

The people in general. Specific militias may be called out. Of course, that’s merely provided as a reason why the right to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.

“Are handguns, different from long guns under the Amendment?”

No. Why would they?

“How about new firearms? Is an AR-15 covered”

Yes and so is an M16. My current preference, as far as mouseguns are concerned, is the Rock River A2, but I’ve had good experiences with an ancient Harrington & Richardson M16A2.....

“A flintlock?”

Yes.
