CLINTON WANTS A GUN SUMMIT
NY Daily News ^ | February 18, 2008 | Michael McAuliff

Another new wrinkle from Hillary Clinton today: she wants a presidential summit on gun control.

That came up in the Q-and-A session of her stop in De Pere, after a woman asked about dealing with shootings such as the Northern Illinois University carnage.

Clinton started with the line she rolled out a couple days ago about recognizing that there is “no conflict” between letting lawful gunowners have weapons and keeping guns out of the hands of bad guys and the mentally ill.

She went on to propose a solution to coming up with a solution for the problem — kind of like her plan to come up with a plan for fixing another politically difficult problem, Social Security.

“I believe we really should have a summit where everybody comes together on all sides of this issue,” Clinton said. “Let’s figure out how we can be consistent with the Second Amendment, which I wholeheartedly support, and do more to keep people safe.

“I think we can do that, but it’s going to require us all to maybe give a little and understand the point of view of the other people,” she said. “That’s something I would do as President to really bring people together.”

“We know we need better background checks and we know we’ve got to have mental health information in there,” she said.

As things go along, I don’t think that “we” meaning the government will have to take much from the sheeple.

The sheeple in their headlong rush into slaverey will be glad to volunteerily surrender their rights if the government will only make them “secure”.

It started after 9-11concerning air travel when one saw idiot after idiot in front of t.v. saying, “I don’t mind them[the government] doing______ so long as it makes me secure”. Or “I don’t mind having to do _______ so long as it makes me secure”.

That and give me free healthcare.

require us all to maybe give a little

Hillary, What are you going to give? Don't you really mean you are going to make the little people give up their ability to protect themselves?

The right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed. Period.

Shut the hell up, Hillary. You are not going to be the president.

Bubba did an "economic summit" down in Ark after his first election. Libs love summits with lots of hot air and good intentions on display.

You may remember there was video of Bubba falling asleep during those long monologues by Paul Volker et.al.

and understand the point of view of the other people

What was that about Obama-Rama-Ding-Dong just making speeches?

Other people must be BJ Clinton and Chelsea..

One more reason to vote for McNasty.

To turn on the t.v. for a State of the Unino speech and see President Hillary Clinton with House Speaker Nancy Pelosi behind her on one side, Leader of the Senate Harry Reid on the other is too awful to imagine.

“We know we need better background checks and we know we’ve got to have mental health information in there,”

That’s a good line from communism. In fact to own a gun in the former Soviet Union you have to pass the mental check many do not pass because they are “Christain”. Communism also taught that Christains are not mentally well.

Look. I detest Hillary too. But, let's not forget that the Slickster was in charge of all those tanks and helicopters then.

Didn't the Slickster pin it on Janet Reno, claiming that all he knew about the affair was what he read in the papers?

Let’s not forget that the Second Amendment is there to protect us against people like Hillary who abuse their power as part of the Government.
The good news is that we are not Religious zealots or orphaned Cuban children who pay for Government abuses with their lives and freedom.
I for one will not allow the Government to rob me of my God given rights, no matter what the uninformed voters of this country force upon me. I think I speak for all who post or lurk here.

“We know we need better background checks and we know we’ve got to have mental health information in there,” she said.

Errr, seems like just yesterday that she was lecturing us all about how "mental illness is just like any other illness", in her bid to force both taxpayers and "private" insurance companies to fork over zillions more dollars to cover mental illness. So now she's admitting that mental illness is NOT just like any other illness???

I have real compromise to offer.

I’ll accept a background check on every sale, including gun shows and private sales, if you will agree that the background check does not ideintify the gun, and no records are kept, (like carding for buying liquor.)

If you oppose this, then you must intend confiscation.

Also, I will accept a $200 transfer tax and background check for machine guns, if you will agree that the 2nd amendment protects common military arms FIRST (no state bans or requirement for local sign-off), and allow qualified buyers and licensed manufacturers to transact in these guns, instead of the outright ban on sale of new machine guns to the people. (Repeal 1986, live with 1934.)

"Hillary wants a gun" summit.

Must be because Obama's winning, and she's feeling desperate.

Clinton gun summit:

Open discussion about whether it is better to enact a sweeping, draconian (and ineffective) gun ban by the stroke of a pen for the public good, or rather to simply register, license and heavily tax them as they are demonized as the twisted fetishes of psycho killers. You guys get together and decide what we should do; either way, Hillary will back you. Maybe we should just let the UN decide as we repair our standing in world opinion.

Has anyone seen the scene in Braveheart where the child William Wallace enters the barn? You know what I’m getting at?

Yeah, and you should be banned from the Golf channel for even mentioning it. (was that reference too esoteric?)

I'm sure Tiger would forgive me for the reference. Think of Hillary as Longshanks in this case.

I wonder if she wants a "summit" on what newspapers can print or talk radio can say?

Same difference. Same Constitution.
