Thanks.... I will.
Dennis Miller today said the only autographed photo he ever asked for was Tom Servo’s.
Joel sent him one, and Miller said he has it up on his office wall.
True.
It's also a profoundly conservative movie.
They’re moving to TV as series.
“Jericho” and “Terminator: The Sarah Conner Chronicles” both come to mind. Jericho was originally envisioned as a movie and then expanded upon. Terminator, well, obviously that started out on the silver screen. The small screen version has actually held pretty true to the series of movies, especially T2. There have even been references to Arnold’s version of the terminator.
I can see that.
You can also check out some episodes on Video Google. One click full episodes. I’ve been able to check out some of the Joel, TV Frank and Professor Forrester episodes that I’d never seen before.
My least favorite thing about Star Trek is that you took an actor, put a crinkle in their nose or pointed ears on them, made them exemplify a particular human trait, and they were an ‘alien’. They at least tried to explain it as some intergalactic brotherhood created by the “Founders”; but it bothered me that the men aliens acted like men, and the women aliens acted like women- and they were exactly like humans except for one particular trait was exaggerated.
How could you miss the remake of that fight-scene? It was done on South Park, as "Cripple Fight" between Timmy and Jimmy! No, I'm not kidding.

There’s always “The Ru Paul Campaign”.
I thought that Tom was very good in that movie... I wasn't crazy about the movie itself, but I think that it was mostly the little girl... On the other hand, Tom's "Daddy" character had the patience of a saint. Had I been "the Daddy" in that movie, I would have drowned the little girl after about the first 45 minutes of shrieking.

Ain’t that the truth!
Of the newer Sci-Fi I like Serenity, released in ‘05. It’s a follow up to the series “Firefly”.
Firefly. Precicely.
I haven’t had TV since 97. One day (about six months ago) I was listening to sattelite radio in a rental car and loved some music I heard. It was from a movie “Serenity”. I decided to rent it.
But they guy at the rental store said I would be disappointed if I didn’t see the TV show it was based on. I rented disc one. I was blown away. My wife even liked it. I then found that two of my work mates owned the original season and they loaned it to me. I was further blown away. It is actually part comedy and is the closest thing to the original Star Trek I have seen.
Then I rented the movie. Holy cow, what a tremendous story, and some reasonably good special effects. I loved it.
I now own the series and the Movie. I’ve already watched all of it twice.
I really do believe that if you don’t watch the series, the movie is going to be a non-starter.
Frankensteins daughter did it to me! And the Hideous Sun Demon. Was a big fan of Chiller Theater on Sat nights in Jersey.

Put on the damn glasses.
I would also LOVE to see John Carter of Mars on the big screen... And speaking of the character, another movie that I think would be awesome would be Heinlein's "Number of the Beast." What a mind twister that book was, and I think that it would adapt itself quite well to the screen.

Is that the one [”Dune”] with Susan Sarandon? I gave it a pass specifically because of her.
We had Ghoulardi here in Cleveland. I was a huge fan! He blew up one of my model cars on one of his shows!
Yes, the bedroom scene was very disturbing ;-)). Most people don’t know that George Lucas did this movie, and it starred Tim Robbins along with LEa Thompson.
