I am an American conservative not a conservative American. To me they are two very different things. I recognize the extreme danger America would from a Democrat president. There is no chance I would ever vote for a Democrat or stay home. America is too important to me. I am sick of people playing politics with the future of my country.
Given the choice between the conservative movement and my country, I will vote for the safety of America in a heartbeat. I will never vote to teach the country a lesson with a Democrat president. I dont play with my familys safety. The election of either fallen away Muslim or a woman will infuriate our Islamist enemies. The experts playing with this fire can make believe this wont be the case, but they are wrong.. But we should not allow them pick our president you say. I agree.
The Democrats are for higher taxes, open borders and Ruth Ginsbergs. McCain may/may not give us higher taxes, he may be persuaded to close the borders. We will have a better chance of getting a Roberts not a Ginsberg from. The real issue is national security. There is no comparing a Democrat Commander in Chief with McCain in that position. With Iraq is becoming a winning situation, why are so many conservatives willingly joining liberals in making believe the War on Terror is over and we can start spending the peace dividend?
Im 100% pro life. McCain is about 95% pro life. Either Democrat is zero pro life and in fact Obama supported a bill to euthanize inconvenient born babies.
We wont get a truly conservative president this time. We can always rebuild the conservative movement during and after McCain, but we can never rebuild America after Democrats destroy our America.
I’m an American before I’m a conservative. I’m an American conservative and a conservative American. I’m still voting for a conservative, and that is not John McCain.
I honestly cannot say at this time...but the more I look at these pictures the more I know that I need to stop THIS THREAT
“McCain made his bed, now he can lie in it.”
With a Vietnamese Freddy Kruger.
Do you really believe that a Ronald Reagan will come along in four yrs. to save us from a HClinton/Clinton or Barry Obsama Presidency? I don’t. I see a stranglehold on the White House and the military.
McCain is not ideal, but this author is right. America First.

The you’d better stay away from McCrazy, who advocates providing official identity documents and U.S. residence to 20 million illegal aliens whose true identities, loyalties, extra-U.S. criminal records, and intentions we cannot and never will know with anything approaching certainty.
In fact anyone with no U.S. criminal record and fingerprints on file (including ill-intentioned U.S. citizens) could easily make the claim for visa status under McCrazy’s plan, and since there is no extra-U.S. background check there would be no way to disqualify the application (probably why McCrazy plan includes only the grossest disqualifying factors).
And let’s not forget that McCrazy’s plan isn’t just for Hispanic illegals. Also eligible would be Russians, Chinese, Pakistanis, Nigerians, Canadians, Brits, etc.
If I were a foreign intelligence agent or an aspiring international criminal, I wouldn’t hesitate one second to avail my self of McCrazy’s cheap and easy 2nd identity program. And American immigration documents no less!!!
LOL, everytime I try to walk away from this discussion, I get dragged back in...
What am I missing? Why is it so hard to imagine McCain tapping a young(er) Conservative veep, who will become the heir apparent and move the party back to the right?
And wouldn’t you rather have even MODERATE judges than the looney-lefties a Dem will give us?
And how in God’s name can you ignore national security? Even if all three candidates were equally bad on the borders, McCain alone will continue to prosecute the GWOT aggressively.
Like it or not - and I don’t - McCain, with the help of the MSM and a RIDICULOUS nominating process, has outmaneuvered us; and I for one am not going to bite off my nose to spite my face. Conservative principals WILL NOT DIE under a McCain Presidency - they will just be put on hold till the next cycle. In the meantime, we can do what we can to elect Conservatives down-ticket.
And what about abortion? How - in God’s name how - can you work to put a pro-abortionist in the White House? And make no mistake, if you withold your support from McCain, that is EXACTLY what you are doing.
>>>By November there will be action that will allow development of a shaky but large diameter coalition.
If that action includes the rejection of Democrat McCrazy from the (R) ticket, count me in.

I will not vote for a liberal. McCain is a liberal. If you choose to support a liberal that’s your right, I won’t do it.
For every one of you who are still for the lesser of two evils, there will be thousands that will either not vote for "president", or vote the commie party favorite.
It's well passed time for pandering.

[emphasis added]
STEPHANOPOULOS: How about on the issue of climate change? Because you and Sen. [Joe] Lieberman [I-Conn.] have come out for a bill which would have mandatory reductions in greenhouse gases.
MCCAIN: Gradual reductions, yes.
STEPHANOPOULOS: But they are mandatory.
MCCAIN: Yes.
STEPHANOPOULOS: Are you sticking by that?
MCCAIN: What I mean by that is that it's cap-and-trade, that there will be incentives for people to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. It's a free-market approach. The Europeans are using it now. We did it in the case of addressing acid rain -- look, if we do that, we stimulate green technologies. I have great faith in the American industry. General Electric, the world's largest corporation, has announced they're dedicated to green technologies. This will be profit-making business.
It won't cost the American taxpayer. It will make profits, because we'll move forward with the innovation and ability of American industry to address this issue.
BS! Playing the *patriot* card when all else fails. Didn’t the Nazis use the same ploy.
Sacrificing the One (principles) for the good of many(homeland). Sounds like *Compassionate Conservatism*,again. This country has had plenty of politicians try to bring it to it's knees. We Will Overcome.
It would seem that many on FR are no better then the Libertarians who would rather see Democrats elected and maintain their ideological purity while teaching the conservative Republicans a lesson.
Now the conservatives are going to teach the GOP a lesson as well, by sitting out the election and rooting for a Democrat victory.
Ofcourse, the old nonsense about getting Reagan after Jimmy Carter is repeated as well.
But in 1976 we weren't in the midst of a war, fighting an enemy that has already shown the ability to strike us.
But Conservatives are going to punish the GOP for the conservatives inability to put forward a legimate conservative candidate!
They have 3rd Parties to go to and they can vote their pure conscience while Democrats ruin the nation.
That will teach those Republicans a lesson!

Your post seems to agree with this GOP BOT:
“If McCain is our nominee, as much as I dislike him I will vote for him for the sake of the military alone.
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>....................lets fix above to:
If McCain is our nominee, as much as I dislike him I will vote for him for the sake of the -children alone.
>>>>>>>>>>>>..
this emotional response to a man with a given record which
goes against so many basic principals of conservatives is just amazing .. the feminazation of our voters to making decisions based on emotion and party loyalty..
the GOP could run Marx and many here with the above
emotions would vote for him and make themselves look just as foolish as they do now with McCain.
