. . .
Charlie would give Elvis a run for his money, said Ken Pruitt, the Republican leader in the Florida state Senate. Thats how popular he is in Florida. If McCain wants to win this state in November, Charlie Crist is a no-brainer [as running mate].
The unforeseen emergence of a youthful, dynamic, and hugely popular Republican governor - think of a skinnier Arnold Schwarzenegger, without the Austrian accent - has added a tantalising twist to the 2008 White House race.
Whether McCain chooses Crist or not - and much may depend on who wins the Democratic battle - Republicans believe they may have found a candidate with the glamour, charisma and political substance to challenge Barack Obama in 2012 or beyond.

RUMOR MILL: Also, a child he signed away (some other chick) so he didn’t have to pay child support. Look for a suntan TWENTY YEAR OLD WITH WHITE HAIR.
There’s a picture on FR of Crist, McCain and Graham’s behinds on McCain’s condo balcony.
MCCAIN'S conservative ranking is 65.
65.
65.
McCain is every bit as much an enemy of the Constitution as Hillary or Obama.
I smell a trump in this, possibly a bloomberg to throw this ticket. trump and crist are big pals.
Contrast that with Obama’s 6 and Hillary’s 8.
His reputation stated with his "Chain-gang" Charlie days. Rather than having prisoners sit watching HBO all day, he had them out working. Now everyone does it. Liberals gave hime the "Chain-gang" nickname back then - it was not suppose to be a compliment, but he wore it with pride.
He's honest - fair - not as conservative as he could be... but that works for most citizens. Wildly popular trumps things sometimes...
Ping.
He’s not honest. Guess those puppy dog expressions got to you...
I kept hearing wildly popular, then I read somewhere in 60s. I guess for today’s politicians that could be true.
Added to a mccain ticket that is a big no go for me. One year as governor is no experience, especially with his global warming crap.

He has 63% approval rating from democrats, lol. that’s the story.
What is your take on this? What are you hearing down there? Do you like him? Does the general population like him?
It’s because of Crist’s not protecting Terri Shiavo that I have only contempt for him. He’s just like McCain, a RINO. You lean on someone like that, you’re going to find yourself on the ground - and all your conservative hopes, too. If McCain picks Crist, he’s an idiot. But it wouldn’t surprise me.
I dont think Charlie is ready to have his background turned insideout by climbing on the the McCain ticket.
No but I’ve always suspected he’s ready 24/7 to have his backside turned inside out.
Gang of 14, remember that? He ain’t much help for us constitution loving Americans where the SCOTUS pick is concerned.
McCain is every bit as much an enemy of the Constitution as Hillary or Obama.
maybe even more so because neither of them took up arms after swearing to defend it only to come back home and rip it to shreds for personal power.

I think his military service is a moot point in that context. Everyone who takes office takes an oath of allegiance to the Constitution. McCain and Feingold are the only two Senators I know of who authored a direct assault on the 1st Amendment and succeeded in having it made law.
I remember all too well. Can you have any doubt whatsoever what sort of justices and judges we’ll get with Clinton or Obama?
