Radio Combat: It Was A "Loud" Sunday Afternoon at 630 WMAL - Chris Plante & Jerry Klein - 2/17/08
D.C. Radio & Television ^

Posted on 02/17/2008 4:44:36 PM PST by SilvieWaldorfMD

From DCRTV:

Sunday Afternoon Fireworks On WMAL - 2/17 - A DCRTVer tells us about "a nasty, dragged out, and loud blowout" between WMAL's Jerry Klein (on the political left) and Chris Plante (on the political right) during their program, "The Chris Plante And Jerry Klein Show," on Sunday afternoon. "It got so bad, that Chris walked out of the studio at one point." The topics were waterboarding, wiretapping, and terrorism. "It got very personal and downright nasty." The audio is not yet up at Chris Plante's audio page at wmal.com, but maybe soon.....

Silvie, I am sorry but I cannot listen to that weasel Jerry Klein for longer than two minutes without turning off the radio. As much as I like Chris Plante, and fervently wish he had Chris Core’s time slot, I WILL NOT EXPOSE MY DELICATE EARS AND NERVOUS SYSTEM TO JERRY KLEIN.

Hey Silvie,

I heard it from beginning to end. I personally want to say that I thought it was refreshing to hear Chris get upset. Jerry is a part of a faction of Americans that are more dangerous then Islamic Radicals ever will be. How Chris, knowing his combativeness, ever can be cordial with Kline within the context of their conversations is unbelievable. Chris, I feel your pain and I understand.

Did anybody hear Chris’ comment about the Saudi’s Military saying to “always have your buddies behind”. He was talking about Gay Marriage with some guy that said the Middle East countries allowed Gay Marriage 100 years ago. It was hilarious.

I guess this is the same Jerry Klein that bombed out in Charlotte about a decade ago?

I don’t know about the “bombed out” part, but yes, he grew up for the most part in Charlotte.

Then you have my sincerest apologies that we let him out to glut up the airwaves in your area. Klein is as vapid as they come.

No apologies needed, Mitchell... it’s “refreshing” at times to hear his perspective, just to make sure that there are people like him still out there — and it makes his conservative counterpart’s (Plante) job much easier when he exposes people like him in the airwaves.

I can “stomach” Klein just fine, but other people in this ping list not so much, as you can read for yourself in the above posts. That’s generally the average consensus on Klein from the hard-core Plante fans.

What does that accomplish?

It does attract listeners, albeit in the same way a car wreck attracts gawkers.

OTOH, such shows usually don't last.

“I guess this is the same Jerry Klein that bombed out in Charlotte about a decade ago?”

That’s hard to say.

Did that Jerry speak with a pronounced lisp and sound like a communist sympathizer?

If so, then chances are that they are one in the same.

Silvie,

Can’t do Komrade Klien’s Koolade. It sends my blood pressure into the stratosphere. I wish WMAL would not put him on the air.

930 in Fredneckis my hometown station and has pretty standard conservative fair; I listen to it in the AM for local news with “Morning News Express with Bob Miller” (and only if Grande and Parks is slow). Bob does a pretty good job though he doesn’t overly dwell on politics.

I often listen to the live feed of Laura Ingraham on the radio and over the internet when Chris Core goes off the reservation, which seems more and more of the time these days.

The afternoons feature Rush, whom I only really listen to in the car and then Glenn Beck, whom I really don’t seem to like on a regular basis.

It’s odd, but I used to find Ingraham to be annoying (I don’t know when she got her own show, but I used to hear her on Imus maybe 5 years back) and I liked Beck’s schtick. Now it’s kind of the other way around. In a way, I think they’ve change a bit and in other ways I know that my tastes have changed.

Either way, it’s nice to have the variety.

If I’m able to work and listen to talk radio I usually stream Dennis Miller live and listen to podcasts of Hugh Hewitt and Dennis Praeger online from Townhall. Many of Praeger’s show’ are not specific to a particular news cycle (”The Happiness Hour” and “Ultimate Issues Hour”), so you can listen to those podcasts anytime.

I also stream EWTN, particularly Benedict Groeschel.

Hmmm... I agree with you there. Laura is great, but then she gets into these weird moods, and I just don’t know whether I should keep her on or change the dial again... and then I just decide to leave her on so that I could listen to Matt, AJ & Joe’s schtick... I’m listening to more Beck and D. Miller as well... Rush & Sean are giving me headaches lately...

I sent Core a nasty note last week when he told the conservatives to pretty much “get over it”.

He wants my conservative values vote, but I’m not allowed to be unhappy about the pubbie choice for Prez. I’m off Core for a spell.

Yeah, Ingraham can be inconsistant, maybe shrill sometimes?? I don’t know. Maybe it’s just me and my moods.

While I agree with him, I feel like I almost already know what is going to come out of Rush’s mouth everyday. I like that guy that sits in for Rush, he’s from Minniapolis, his last name is Lewis. Sean strikes me as being anxious and edgey anymore. I don’t need that. Beck’s simply not my not my flavor.

Don’t know if you listen to WT3? This used to be the ld WTOP. They have Boortz in the AM and I couple of left wing nutters in the afternoon!

It’s all moot, since most of the time I can’t listen and properly work at the same time.

Re: Core’s outburst to tell conservatives to “get over it” —

While I agree with you that Chrissy can navigate on both sides of the spectrum and not be at all consistent in his political views, I have to say that when I heard Chrissy #2’s (Plante) take on the McCain candidacy and that we as Conservatives (and Libertarians) need to sit down and really think about whether or not we want McCain — or get stuck with Hillary or Obama for 4 years — that McCain would indeed be the better choice.

Obama is a Marxist-Socialist and Hillary is not far behind. Do we really want these two to position themselves in appointing complete Communists to the FBI, DOJ, CIA and State? Not to mention the US Supreme Court?

At least with McCain we can say that we’ll hold his ‘feet to the fire’ for 4 years and with Romney’s endorsement, as well as Bush 41, we need to rally against Hillary and Obama, and the only way to do that is with McCain. Obama is a VERY SCARY individual and must be stopped.

I’m not saying that McCain’s perfect, he’s not, but he is a hero, he has 2 sons right now in the military (you don’t hear a lot about that) and he is MORE PRESIDENTIAL than the other two Dem Bozo’s...

ya.. I was kind of letting some steam off so if sounded kind of crazy and incoherent, I apologize, lol. It’s true. Smoking weed and selling drugs. I am kind of angry because he personally saw what I went thru when I lived that ignorant life, and we are like brothers and I feel responsible for what he does because he watched me do it.All I can do is pray for him because he is grown.

Anyway, I originally wanted to let out my anger on the caller named Micheal. I am surrounded by people like Micheal everyday. It drives me crazy. It is like for every Chris, there is 100 Kline's, except they don’t have the courtesy and knowledge that Kline has.

I hope your nephew can find his way through life before it is too late. Youth equals ignorance. I’m happy that he has such a passionate and loving Uncle like you. Most kids raise themselves nowadays, with is atrocious.

Chris definitely has the most culturally mixed fan base of any radio talk show host I can think of. African-Americans, Hispanics, Indians, Muslims, Caucasians, Russians, Eastern Europeans, etc. — from all classes and backgrounds.

Fascinating.

You would think that with his so-called “rhetoric” that he would only attract White Aryan Nation members, no? Heehee!

Gotta love that Plante!

Amen.....

Ya, when you “keep it real”, you will attract all types of people.

Thanks for the kind words. Life is great, regardless.
