McCain: "Winning in the fall will be 'uphill battle' (just what we needed to hear...)

** EXCERPT **

(CNN) — Likely GOP nominee John McCain said Sunday that beating an energized Democratic party in a fall election fight would be “an uphill battle all the way.”

The Arizona senator told George Stephanopoulos on ABC’s This Week that he “can out-campaign them, and I can out-debate them, and I can out-perform them” but conceded that he had his work cut out for him in the months ahead.

“…We've got to reunite the party, and we've got to re-energize the party. And I'm prepared to do that. We've got plenty of time. But I won't waste a day,” said McCain.

The Arizona senator, who is close to capturing the number of delegates required to claim the Republican nomination, has struggled to win over much of the GOP’s conservative base. But party leaders have begun to rally to his side: Monday, he is scheduled to receive the endorsement of former President George H.W. Bush.

McCain is worse than Hillary or Obama because we can expect the Repubs to oppose Democrats.

A good point, the GOP is not going to publicly oppose their own president. You don't oppose your own party ... unless your name is John McCain of course.

Regards

He's an egomaniac. His debating skills are terrible!! He sounds old, whiney, boring & he has a very bad public speaking voice!

Only in his own mind he is a good candidate.

John spent the last ten years dividing the party, and now laments that he'll have to reunite it.

BTW John, who are you going to unite them under, Kennedy, Finegold, the Gang of Fourteen, or just the last remaining member of the Keating five?

I was watching Hannity & Colmes the other night when Jack Kemp was on. Kemp had met with McCain and was trying to tell Hannity why he is a conservative and the best person for Prez. Hannity was saying then why doesn’t he reassure us on the reasons we don’t like him.....amnesty, free speech, etc. Kemp’s answer was......John is a proud man. OMG I laughed my a$$ off.
McCain can take his pride and shove it as far as I am concerned.

If John McCain said the sky is blue, many Freepers would attack him for it.M

That would be proof for me that the sky ISN'T blue. McCain is George Soros's candidate, hand-picked to go up against George Soros's hand-picked candidate Hillary!--or maybe George Soros's other hand-picked candidate, Obama.

Thompson is still a curiosity to me as to what his dabble into presidential politics was really all about. There is NO surprise he would toss his lot in with lord McCain, they are longstanding good friends.

Nobody not even lord McCain will hide from his own record and it is not pretty. Day one of his campaign he got to where he is with liberal/independent moderates, maybe he can pull off some of Hillary’s base.

You are right on the money!

The choice is Senator Bad, Senator Worse, or Senator Worst.

“It looks to me like you’re speaking for 42.7% of “this conservative site”.”

And it looks to me like that poll only represents about 6% of Freeper membership. I’m sure all the McCain “supporters” jumped right on this one, while the real Conservatives are sick of the new wind sock being heisted every day.

I saw that interview. I couldn’t concentrate on what Kemp was saying because I was looking at the dead snowshoe rabbit on his head and laughing too hard.

Sure, that is why Thompson Hunter and Tancredo won the nomination in a landslide.

No, wait... I detect a flaw...

Oh gosh, stop the presses, the world is about to end, not with kjo's vote!!!

And lord knows that world history turns on kjo's vote!!!

Such breathless principled passion! Why, kjo practically walks on water - we must have kjo's vote. The winner has always had kjo's vote, and no one opposed by kjo has ever lost anything. You can tell, because everything kjo wants is instantly enacted as a national consensus.

No wait. I detect a flaw...

Nah. You haven't ever given him one, why should you get one? For that matter, what would you need one for?

Either way, you are powerless, useless, unwanted and unneeded, and living in denial.
