McCain: "Winning in the fall will be 'uphill battle' (just what we needed to hear...)

** EXCERPT **

(CNN) — Likely GOP nominee John McCain said Sunday that beating an energized Democratic party in a fall election fight would be “an uphill battle all the way.”

The Arizona senator told George Stephanopoulos on ABC’s This Week that he “can out-campaign them, and I can out-debate them, and I can out-perform them” but conceded that he had his work cut out for him in the months ahead.

“…We've got to reunite the party, and we've got to re-energize the party. And I'm prepared to do that. We've got plenty of time. But I won't waste a day,” said McCain.

The Arizona senator, who is close to capturing the number of delegates required to claim the Republican nomination, has struggled to win over much of the GOP’s conservative base. But party leaders have begun to rally to his side: Monday, he is scheduled to receive the endorsement of former President George H.W. Bush.

I think McCain should call a press conference and announce he’s withdrawing from the race, and give his delegates to Hunter or Thompson.

I thought he was unbeatable? Dems and Indies were going to flock to the polls to vote for him, that’s what they told us.

I’m not a Republican. Never was. Never voted for a rat or a rino.

We've got to reunite the party, and we've got to re-energize the party. And I'm prepared to do that. We've got plenty of time. But I won't waste a day,” said McCain.

Fine when is he going to announce his terminal illness and step down.

“McCain: “Winning in the fall will be ‘uphill battle’ (just what we needed to hear...)”

Actually winning in the fall is going to be a cakewalk. For your opponent.

“He’s not saying anything untrue, yet he gets attacked here as usual.”

And hear I thought the trolls took a lunch break.

“…We've got to reunite the party, and we've got to re-energize the party. And I'm prepared to do that. We've got plenty of time. But I won't waste a day,”

He's already wasted so much time that he likely will not unite the party.

The Arizona senator...has struggled to win over much of the GOP’s conservative base...party leaders have begun to rally to his side...he is scheduled to receive the endorsement of former President George H.W. Bush.

Struggling to win over the base does not mean pandering to the party's leaders, past or present.

It doesn’t matter if it is true or not, most of us (even people that are saying that they will vote for him) do not like him personally.

McCain is saying it like it is. Bottom line if he doesn’t get the base to support him Clinton or Obama take the prize and we’ll have to live with it.

After the multiple knives in the collective backs of conservatives with his fingerprints on the handle, what do you think that he could do to win over us holdouts?

Should he be saying “Winning in the fall will be a ‘walk in the park’”? Would that help to energize the party?

Obama is selling hope. Empty, vacant, baseless hope. With enormous success

And McCain goes on national TV and give a message that essentially say's 'we have little hope, maybe none'?

He is there to appeal to his base, the Democrat Party, who are being given a choice between hope with Obama and no hope with McCain.

How stupid is that?

“Bottom line”

SOROS if financing Obama, Clinton, and MCCAIN, take your pick, bottom shelf.

If it wasn’t for MCain, and we had a decent candidate, it would have been easier.

McCain stinks.

As far as I know, he has always been attacked here.

Know why? Well, this is a conservative site, and McCain is more of a Democrat, than a conservative.

Most RINOs like McCain, Snowe, Collins, haven’t enjoyed much support here because they collude and vote with Democrats.

See its easy!

Then why are you running? Why are you the likely nominee?

And who put him there? We had choices, but two things happen. The voters in the primaries and those that killed Romney, Hunter, and Huck, who is just religious noise. And some posters didn't help any. The best candidate was Romney in spite of the liberal leanings, intelligent, articulate, great businessman, and given the chance he just might have worked with conservatism.

“…We’ve got to reunite the party, and we’ve got to re-energize the party. And I’m prepared to do that. We’ve got plenty of time. But I won’t waste a day,” said McCain.”

Typical McCain: I am the only one that can do this, I can do that, I was there when we did this, I know how to build a fence because I’m from a border state, I know about war, etc., etc.

The man is full of platitudes, but when asked specifics, he starts to stammer and struggle to remember his talking points.

And did you notice he said to Stephie, “if the economy continues to struggle, we need to cut corporate tax rates because we have the second highest in the world”?

Well, that is a real bad omen, there. The corporate tax rates should be cut as a matter of principle, not dependent on the economy continuing to tank. They should never have been that high in the first place.

I swear, a lot of people on FR seem to hate on Huck, but he seems to have a vastly better comprehension of the effect of taxation on basic economics than McCain.

McCain to the base;

“Calm down and GROW UP!

(Now that will surely “reunite and re energize” us!)

Base to McCain; “STICK IT!”

(It’s a simple but honest response Juan.)
