WASHINGTON — The FBI and Department of Homeland Security sent a bulletin Friday to state and local law enforcement authorities advising them to watch for potential retaliatory strikes by Hezbollah, one day after the Lebanese militia group vowed to avenge the death of a top commander by attacking Israeli and Jewish targets around the world.
"While retaliation in the U.S. homeland is unlikely, Hezbollah has demonstrated a capability to respond outside the Middle East to similar events in the past," said the intelligence bulletin sent to about 18,000 state and local law enforcement officials late Friday afternoon.
The FBI also said it was intensifying its domestic intelligence-gathering efforts to identify any potential Hezbollah threats in the United States in the aftermath of Tuesday's car-bomb assassination of Imad Mughniyah in Syria.
On Wednesday, the FBI sent a confidential internal bulletin to its 101 Joint Terrorism Task Forces across the country warning of the possible domestic consequences of Mughniyah's killing. As part of that effort, FBI officials at headquarters told the bureau's field offices and multiagency task forces to increase monitoring and surveillance of suspected Hezbollah operatives and to conduct fresh interviews with sources and informants about the U.S.-designated terrorist group, according to two FBI officials.

I guess this is just more of the terrible Bush Administration’s scare tactics.
They will soon learn that the US is not Europe.
Something like that will not be tolerated here. Another thing they will discover is that people here have guns and know how to use them. They push it and it will be open season-no limit. Their buddies such as CAIR, Code Pinko and other LLL’s will of course try to protect them and will end up sharing the same fate.
Well, this would be the best time to slip something through what with the Liberals in Congress opting to walk out on the Republicans in order to allow the FISA laws to lapse while they’re on vacation. The Libs have dropped our guard. Hey, what’s a few thousand Americans dead when there’s political power to be won?
If an attack happens the libs will say it never would have taken place if it weren’t for Bush’s policies.
Odd how the first bombing on the Trade Center keeps falling off the radar. I have actually heard that we hadn’t been attacked until Bush took office.
Its nice to think that but most governors will mobilize the national guard to protect the terrorist HQs, I mean Mosques. Must protect the religion of peace! Acting on the president’s orders yah know! Gotta keep them Saudi camel jockeys happy or they’ll cut off the tap!

I haven’t seen this scenario put forth (doesn’t mean it hasn’t been) so here’s what I instinctively thought when I heard the hezbully loony was finally terminated:
Hezbully leader killed by competitors within the group (or even another muzzie terrorist group) knowing the joos would be blamed. No downside for muzzie hate factions - but everybody else has to clean up the mess. If not for the seriousness of the issue, it’s really always like dealing with children.
It is a good time: the libs in Congress are talking about BASEBALL; people are ready to elect a Marxist anti-Israeli lib for President; no one seems to take terrorism seriously.
It would be the best thing that ever happened in the US, in some very macabre way, for it would get people’s attention, if only for a moment.
And .. thanks to the DEMOCRAT CONGRESS .. and their refusal to fix the FISA laws, we have been blinded to attacks.
Are the dems so stupid they don’t realize that this move will point the finger directly to them - if we should have an attack ..??

Bush and his policies will be conveniently blamed for every misfortune that happens here or to our allies for the next 30 years.
I’ll never understand Bush’s reticence at publically confronting some of the vile propaganda leveled against him. A story that’s repeated enough times becomes acknowleged as the truth.
I agree .. communication is not Bush’s strong suit. I wish he’d use the “bully pulpit” much more often. And .. I do blame Laura for pressing him to draw back from his “bring it on” kind of statements.
But .. the idiots blamed Reagan too .. and had to eat their words when Reagan died and as his hearse drove the last miles to his Library .. the whole freeway came to a complete and total STOP! Nobody was honking their horns, nobody was upset .. they were all standing on the fenders or hoods of their cars in order to get a look or wave a sign or a flag.
No matter what the media tries to do or say .. I believe history will give a great account of the “good” things that Bush did.
But .. Bush’s reticent attitude is probably based on “freedom of speech”. He really believes people are allowed to say whatever they want - regardless of the person’s motive of hurting or discrediting Bush.
And .. isn’t it interesting that the left is intent on painting Bush as an “oppressor” of free speech ..?? Such is the left’s mantra of blaming the right for the left’s own “oppression” of others.
Ah, but that’s when the people snow the governor’s office with phone calls, faxes and emails telling them “Choose between us and them. We’ll remember your choice at the next election!”
I hope this is just journalistic license. If we haven't been going all out, and have been holding something in reserve until now, heads should roll.
Very good points, cyber. I didn’t realize Laura was involved in getting him to pull back. The odd thing was that every time he did something like the “bring it on” comments, the only people upset were the press and some Boston and Berkeley fruitcakes. Everybody else loved it!
He may not have been a great communicator, but whisking him off the stage altogether, IMHO, was a serious mistake. He’s been virtually invisible for about the last two years. Maybe he himself got sick of it and couldn’t take the attacks anymore; maybe somebody else influenced him. I don’t know, but it’s unfortunate that he didn’t just go on being Bush (he’s great in person, btw) and tell the media to stuff it.
