I called the White House comment line about this. When I told the woman there that my 16-y/o son supported FISA, too, she just lit up - “We LOVE it when young people get involved!”
So I put him on the phone and they chatted for a couple of minutes. Very, very cool.
You’ve inspired me...I have never called the White House comment line....but I think I will today. Good idea. And good for your son to be paying attention to what is happening in the world. Maybe there is hope for the future.
I've done it a few times: 202-456-1414, Press 1 for the President. In addition to my comment about FISA, I also asked the woman to add my thanks to the President and VP for their service to the country these past seven years.

There is, indeed! He's a Freeper, too - bauerpauer. (Guess what show he likes) He's been aware of stuff since the 2000 election, and then 9-11. He's much more hip to what's going on than the "Inside Job Troofer" twits at his school. There are a few other conservative kids there, too, but they keep a low profile. (sigh)
Each time I've called the comment line, it's been a very positive experience. They don't try to rush you, and have been wonderful. Good luck!

How much good will these walk outs be after the Republicans in Congress end up as a profound minority in ‘09 and beyond? How long before conservatives officially create a “Conservative Party” that truly does what the present Republican Party is supposed to be doing right now and for always? It’s not only the Republican Party that’s presently dying (good riddance, IMHO), but it’s also all of U.S. conservatism that’s also dying a slow death. I’m very concerned about a U.S. without the existence of conservatism! Help!
They’re finally showing their gumption.
I think instead of a walkout, they should do like the parliaments in Asia and have a knockdown dragout brawl.
