Mark McKinnon, Communications Director for George W. Bush

“I love the rascal like a wayward stepchild,” Begala said of McKinnon
Media master Ex-Democratic consultant now Bush strategist 09/15/99

Democratic consultant Paul Begala, who with partner James Carville was an architect of Bill Clinton’s 1992 White House win, has known Mr. McKinnon since college in the 1970s at the University of Texas. Mr. Begala was president of the student body, and Mr. McKinnon was editor of the student newspaper, The Daily Texan.

“He’s brilliant, funny and passionate - and recently, deeply misguided,” Mr. Begala said. “The governor is damn lucky to have him.” [snip]

In 1984, he joined Mr. Begala and Mr. Carville in Mr. Doggett’s ill-fated run for Senate.

In 1987, Mr. McKinnon said he got two offers at the same time: one from consultant Dick Morris to be press secretary for an Arkansas governor named Bill Clinton and the other from Buddy Roemer, who wanted to run for governor of Louisiana. He chose Louisiana.

“That’s where you get your Ph.D. in politics,” he said.

A third party conservative candidate could steal this election.
Too bad that won’t happen

With the recent revelation that McCain is/was "dirty" with Soros' money, he has earned himself a new nickname:

MOVE-ON McCAIN!

Anybody know where Mark McKinnon is from? I wonder if he's any kin to this McKinnon (from Shreveport)?

I'm shocked, SHOCKED, that McCain would have someone like this as an associate.

So the point is, McCain’s campaign hired an apparently talented guy (in his field). This guy has hopes of getting into the Obama campaign if he gets the nomination. Then they’d have to hire somebody else.

So.....is that it?

Alert:

World Net Daily's Jerome R. Corsi
Needs to Do His Homework

If you are serious about desiring a candidate other than McCain, start first with factual information, and read beyond the title before running with nonsense derived from a sensationalist article you heard about or glanced at in World Net Daily.

Everyone already knew, that is, apparently everyone knew except
Jerome R. Corsi, that McKinnon was a consultant for the Democrats up until 1997 when McKinnon's good friend George W. Bush talked McKinnon into becoming a Republican strategist.

In other words...

McKinnon not wanting to campaign against Obama isn't news.

From the June 2007 Statesman article:

"...McKinnon, who worked only for Democratic candidates before signing on with Bush in 1997, confirmed a Newsweek report that he notified the McCain campaign around January [January 2007 emphasis added] about his decision not to work against Obama..."

August 2007: McKinnon Likes Obama (McKinnon was first a Democrat then he wasn't...)

I remember some controversy about McKinnon being brought up during the 2000 campaign and where his loyalties were. Don’t remember much detail, but the name struck me as familiar.

Paul Weyrich, president and CEO of Free Congress Foundation, said things might have been different if information such as the revelations about McKinnon and WND's report that McCain's foundation has been funded by billionaire George Soros since 2001 had been available earlier.

Uh... sorry Corsi. It was available earlier! The story had been around for a couple years [ref], but largely ignored. Too bad you weren't screaming it from the rooftops about 6 months ago--or a year. Seriously, this is where Corsi comes off as pompous and loses credibility. He's had some great scoops and done some great work, but he tries to take credit for things that make him look silly.
