Last gasp effort by an ineffectual president to try to boost his ratings. Ditto an inept Congress.

More compassionate conservatism ... oh, joy. Not that I don’t want my tax dollars, I just wish that they would not take them in the first place.

I wonder if they ever consider reduction in spending??? Then they could afford this political pandering form of socialism. What a crock.

I'll take it, but their definition of rebate is incorrect:
People earning at least $3,000 and those who owe little or no taxes would get $300 for singles, $600 for couples.
A rebate is an amount paid by way of reduction, return, or refund on what has already been paid or contributed.
And btw, I've heard many, that are expecting this "rebate", are planning on saving it, not spending it, as am I.

The middle class comes up short again. A couple making, not bring home, 150K gets to pay .

I believe it’s based on 2007 Adjusted Gross Income...

Well, I’m screwed. Not married, and make over 75K a year.
Oh well, enjoy the fruits of my labor USA!! I’ll just keep working hard to help bailout housing flippers and people who spend more than they make. What a country.

It’s still not right. It ought to be a tax adjustment and the more you made the more would be returned.

Buying your way out of debt. Bill is just a pay off to political contributors.

I’m in the same boat. I’m just trying to figure out why those who pay little or no taxes get a “rebate” and I do not.

Most taxpayers will receive a check of up to $600 for individuals and $1,200 for couples from the Internal Revenue Service, with an additional $300 per child. People earning at least $3,000 and those who owe little or no taxes would get $300 for singles, $600 for couples. Those making more than $75,000 and couples with income exceeding $150,000 are to get smaller rebates $50 less per $1,000 they make over those thresholds. Socialism, don't you love it? Folks making $3000 dollars? They don't pay taxes. So how can you "rebate" what they never paid? And notice where that comes from - those who pay the MOST taxes don't get anything back, or get a sliding scale of reduced rebates.
GW is a Socialist too... While I stand to get a little back, I would rather just a real tax cut.
