He may be scaring the delegates (called "uncommitted delegates" in the GOP) half to death if they're thinking of McCain or Huck and public opinion is rebelling against these two.
The same thing is already happening in the race between Hillary and the black Frank Sinatra. She's most certainly strong-arming the Dem super delegates to a fearful degree.

Huckabee has stated his goal is for the nominee to be selected at the convention. He has also stated that if McCain does end up being the nominee that he does not believe that McCain would offer him the VP position.
Who knows, maybe Huckabee and Romney would join forces against McCain. My understanding is that at a brokered convention, the delegates are free to support whom they want and not necessarily tied to a particular candidate.
Yesterday Mark Levin stated that he likes the idea that Huckabee is staying in to give McCain a run for his money. Perhaps Mark is also hoping for a brokered convention.
