I loved Reagan, but someone needs to get a wake up call. He compromised as all Presidents must. We will lose if we don’t unite.

I have no problem voting for McCain. The alternative(s)must be defeated in order for the US to win the war on terror. There are vast differences between McCain and Hillary/Obama...do NOT be fooled.

Look at some McCain votes in 2006

4. Tax Cut Rules S Con Res 83 (Roll Call 38) The Senate defeated a change in its rules that would have required a 60-vote majority to cut taxes in the future. ACU opposed this rules change, which was defeated on a 50-50 vote on March 14, 2006.

McCain voted to need 60 votes to cut taxes.

12. Immigration Overhaul—Social Security Credit S 2611 (Roll Call 130) The Senate killed an amendment barring illegal immigrants currently in the country from claiming Social Security credits for work done in years before they are assigned a valid Social Security number. ACU supported the amendment, which was killed by a vote of 50-49 on May 18, 2006.

McCain voted to let them keep their illegal credits.

15. Same-Sex Marriage Ban Constitutional Amendment S J Res. 1 (Roll Call 163) The Senate defeated a motion to end a filibuster against a constitutional amendment defining marriage as consisting only of the union of a man and a woman. ACU supported the constitutional amendment and thus supported this motion, which got a majority of the votes, but failed because 60 votes are required to end a filibuster. The vote was 49-48 on June 7, 2006.

McCain voted to not to not end the filibuster.

22. Border Fencing HR 5441 (Roll Call 200) The Senate rejected an amendment providing for the construction of 370 miles of double-layered fencing and at least 461 miles of vehicle barriers along the U.S.-Mexico border. ACU supported the amendment, which failed 29-71 on July 13, 2006.

McCain voted against the border fence.

23. Embryonic Stem Cell Research HR 810 (Roll Call 206) The Senate passed a bill allowing the use of federal funds in research on embryonic stem cells. ACU opposed this legislation, which passed by a vote of 63-37 on July 18, 2006.

McCain voted for embryonic stem cell research.

Absolutely spot on. We all have problems with McCain. However, there is NOTHING to recommend in greasing the path for a victory for HRC or Obama, Nothing. Freepers who pound their chest in protest are simply juveniles having a hissy fit. sorry, that’s what it sounds like. If you have a problem supporting McCain, as I do, just call it a vote against an onslaught of unfettered socialism. And, don’t give me the nonsense McCain is no better. That’s puerile silliness.

I can’t support McCain unless he withdraws his McCain-Lieberman global warming bill.

We are in a knock down drag out fight with the liberals in our county over private property rights and water rights. I would lose all credibility if I supported McCain.

The Republican Party needs to put up Republican candidates if they expect Republicans to vote for Republican nominees.

John McCain is NOT going to get my vote! I am done watering down the Republican Party with RINO's.

We will lose if we don’t unite.

I'm united. I don't like McCain, so I won't vote for him. I'm going to vote in the Ohio primary for Obama, against Hillary. When Obama becomes POTUS, conservatives will have four years to gain control from the RINOS. Join us, unite!

WE will lose an election if we refuse to unite. And McCain and his leftist supporter will lose control of the Republican party.

Losing an election is like losing a battle in a war. Losing permanent control of the Republican party is like losing a war.

If McCain wins the USA will end up with two leftist parties.

Loss of the Republican party to the left is not worth it.. It is losing the war for control of this nation to the left.

I fear the left controlling both political parties far more than I fear the terrorists.

Sure Reagan compromised...but his election wasn't the result of multiple acceptable canddates being eliminated one by one leaving the worst (or second worst) as the only option.

Planned Parenthood ran a hit piece radio ad on McCain today (DC area) and said that McCain would try to overturn Roe vs. Wade. The ad was rather explicit and said that if you were prochoice not to vote for McCain. The ad was paid for by PP and had no candidate attached (per disclosure in ad).

We will lose if we don’t unite.

Well, if that's the criteria, let's just unite behind Obama and we're sure to win. /sarc

Reagan compromised, giving amnesty with a promise of a closed border. He got shafted, but his heart was in the right place. Bush/McCain tried to give away the store, and we still don't have the wall they promised. Bush and McCain did not have their heart in the right place.

McCains grudging compromises are with the Right, not the left. He starts in the wrong place. And when elected, he will only need to compromise with Teddy Kennedy, and guess what -- he has no disgreements with the man at all.

When the Republican establishment is confronted with the cold fact that if the party nominates McCain, all efforts to win the presidency will be in vain. It will be forced to “broker” the leftist McCain into oblivion where he rightfully belongs.

Reagan compromised his principles and his conservative ideology? I think not. At least, not very often.

If you haven't noticed, conservatism has already lost. It's not a player in this election. You can keep encouraging the GOP to turn left by supporting them if you like, but you'll reap what you sow.
