Tomorrow is, of course, primary day in Virgina.
The question is -- how can I get the biggest effect with my primary vote, on shaping the November election?
A protest vote against McCain, i.e., for Huckabee? Sorry, can't pull the lever for the Huckster. Just can't do it -- as George Bush 41 would say, "not gonna do it".
A protest vote for Romney? Maybe, and that's my initial impulse, but it's not clear what I buy for that.
Crossing over and voting for Obama? That's my inclination. I'm worried about the effect, one that'e been cited by many (I read it again today in the latest Susan Estrich column) about the "gap" between Obams's polling numbers (even the exit polls) versus the final reality of the private voting booth results, which get spun as "Hillary comebacks". As my father would say, "Comebacks my arse."
The polling gap is telling anyone that wants to notice that "some democrats are uncomfortable about race", and are lying about it even as they leave the polls, and while that's no surprise to conservatives, it's an especially worrisome factor right now.
We've heard all the talk about who, between Hillary and Obama, is the more formidable candidate against the repubs, but I take that all for idle chatter. One elementary fact I can say for certain, one thing that I know -- -- is that I cannot BEAR the thought of either Clinton in the White House again. So I'm going to break with Ann Coulter on this one -- for me it's visceral.
So -- my intent is to vote democratic tomorrow, and pull the lever for Barack. Remember the old Steve Martin bit. Steve, how are you sooo funny? His response - I put baloney in my shoes, and then I feel funny! Perhaps I'll get the baloney out before I head to the polls. I know I'll get a funny look from the registrar of voters, who'se a personal friend of mine. I'll give her a wink as she says "oh my!"
Thats interesting. Im thinking of doing the same thing in Texas in about 3 weeks.
Curious.... What is your thinking regarding crossing over?
Have you decided there aren’t any other races up and down the ballot in the Republican Primary that are worth you vote and it would be better to cross over? I know that some areas may not have contested races while others will. CD 14 [Paul], CD 22 [DeLay’s old position] come to mind.
Obama is going to be harder to beat than Hillary.
Obama is more dangerous than Hillary.
Those are my reasons.
If you want to protest, vote someone other than McCain on the republican ticket, even Ron Paul.
Here is what POTUS Barry has in mind for supporting the GWOT. To the original poster who wants opinions on his vote for Barry, I say, “Are you on crack?”.

There’s no such thing as a socialist who isn’t diabolically evil. We need Clinton and her baggage full of negatives. Think of all the stupid things Bill will say during the general. He’s already about flushed her down the toilet. She just needs to hang onto the rim til after the convention.
I was at a gathering of about 500 last night. I didn’t take a political poll but given the purpose of the gathering would guess the group as a whole more conservative than the average population. When the national anthem was played about half put hand over heart and about half didn’t.
Not with McCain, you won't.
Good idea
Just my opinion, but I think that Obama is becoming a dangerous candidate. (see http://obamamessiah.blogspot.com/). The cult of Obama is running strong. Do you really want to do anything that may end up putting him in office?
I think that those who are voting Obama just to play election games are playing with fire. IMO our country is too important to take the risk of him becoming president.
I strongly believe McCain has a better shot of beating Hillary than Obama, so in light of the above I will be voting for Hillary in the primary on Tuesday. By the time the general comes around I'll know more and will make a decision about what to do. I am reasonably sure, though, that I will be unable to pull the lever for McCain in the general under any circumstances. I will likely write-in a candidate.
Texas is an open primary. Good way to destroy the she-devil, since she is expecting the illegals to carry the day for her in that state. Negate the illegal vote.
I don’t think it matters any more. Clinton, Obama, McCain... any one of them will bring an end to America. We lucked out, though; most democracies have a life span of about 200 years, give or take a couple. We’ve had that, plus 32. With Clinton or Obama, we’ll be socialist / communist. With McCain, we’ll all be Mexicans.
However, I can tell you it is probably not a good strategy now. As much as it would be nice to flush the Clintons down the toilet and be done with them once and for all, the proper strategy is to keep them as close as possible and spending resources fighting each other.
Your initial inclination is usually correct. Vote for Romney. It is a protest vote agains McCain which cannot be interpreted as a vote for Huckabee, the McCain clone.
Please don’t. He is dangerous; the new messiah figure of the sheeple.
I also consider his objections to the Illinois version of the Born Alive Infant Protection Act to be evil. He basically advocated leaving newborn, potentially viable infants - born alive and fully outside of the womb - unattendend until they died because people might begin to question the vaunted “right” to kill babies.
If you must vote ‘Rat - I’d go for Hildog - there is at least a slight chance we could beat her in November. I think Obama would take it in a landslide - He’s going to “change the world” and get people free healthcare within a month of his inauguration. How could the media-led masses resist him??
I would also really think about voting for Huckabee. He’s not at all as bad as many on this board have suggested. if you haven’t already, take a look at the video of his CPAC speech - It’s wonderful. I was vary much against him until Hunter’s endorsement made me take a closer look. Or even if you can’t find anything about Huck to like you could just think of it as a vote against McCain. It sure would suck for him if he lost Virginia!

I am listed to a conservative talk show host Sue Henry and she said PA Republicans are going to switch their party and vote for the one they think McCain can beat.
So not I have my mother wanting to do the same. She wants US to switch over and vote for Obama in April Primary.
Apparently McCain can beat Obama????
I think you should vote for Hillary to stop Obamarama. He is dangerous. Please think about this before you press the lever.
This just screams for graphics! ;-)
