Tomorrow is, of course, primary day in Virgina.
The question is -- how can I get the biggest effect with my primary vote, on shaping the November election?
A protest vote against McCain, i.e., for Huckabee? Sorry, can't pull the lever for the Huckster. Just can't do it -- as George Bush 41 would say, "not gonna do it".
A protest vote for Romney? Maybe, and that's my initial impulse, but it's not clear what I buy for that.
Crossing over and voting for Obama? That's my inclination. I'm worried about the effect, one that'e been cited by many (I read it again today in the latest Susan Estrich column) about the "gap" between Obams's polling numbers (even the exit polls) versus the final reality of the private voting booth results, which get spun as "Hillary comebacks". As my father would say, "Comebacks my arse."
The polling gap is telling anyone that wants to notice that "some democrats are uncomfortable about race", and are lying about it even as they leave the polls, and while that's no surprise to conservatives, it's an especially worrisome factor right now.
We've heard all the talk about who, between Hillary and Obama, is the more formidable candidate against the repubs, but I take that all for idle chatter. One elementary fact I can say for certain, one thing that I know -- -- is that I cannot BEAR the thought of either Clinton in the White House again. So I'm going to break with Ann Coulter on this one -- for me it's visceral.
So -- my intent is to vote democratic tomorrow, and pull the lever for Barack. Remember the old Steve Martin bit. Steve, how are you sooo funny? His response - I put baloney in my shoes, and then I feel funny! Perhaps I'll get the baloney out before I head to the polls. I know I'll get a funny look from the registrar of voters, who'se a personal friend of mine. I'll give her a wink as she says "oh my!"
I’m thinking of doing the same when the primaries come to Pennsylvania. Clinton has her cronies in place and has an ax to grind, plus I despise the clintons more than osama/obama.
Whenever you talk to an Obama supporter for the next few months, remember to talk as if Hillary is a sure thing because "the fix is already in".
I would like to start something that shows Obama in a variety of poses and situations. In other words, show him doing open heart surgery, Maybe landing the space shuttle,
Maybe winning American Idol etc... Because he has not the experience but it does not seem to matter to his cult.
So why couldn’t he do all of these things just as well?
The media is in love with him, they’ll get him nominated and then they’ll turn on Mccain once they get Obama nominated.
I’ve thought about this too....
Vote for Obama? Tempting - how often do we get to vote against Hillary Clinton?
But after more consideration, I’m going to vote for Romney.
Think about it this way, you aren't voting for him in office, you are voting for the person we are running against. IE, it is like a basketball team being able to tell the opposition what plays to make before they make them. :->
Hillary is more likely to lose the general. Obama is more likely to make a disastrous foreign policy mistake. Hillary will pick a 61 year old feminist for the Supreme Court, while Obama will pick a smart liberal 48 year old. (Sorry for the oxymoron.) We’d be stuck with Obama’s justice a lot longer!
Hill would always anger conservatives, and will get less radical stuff passed. Obama might really wreck the country a lot more!
Don’t do it!!!!!!!!!!! :<)
strategize all you want. I have too much honor to do that.
VA is an open primary. Obama is ahead in the polls too, Clinton has virtually conceded the state to him.
“Please vote for Hillary. She is the only beatable Democrat.”
I hear that all the time, and don’t believe a word of it. You forget how the Clintons schemed and connived for 8 years? They’ve worked their ways out of bigger pickles then the one they’re in now, and taken down guys a lot tougher than Obama, and also tougher than McCain.
Hillary is a nightmare. Bill Clinton back in the White House is a nightmare.
And that my friend is what makes this such a great country. You are free to do what you think is correct. A lot of people are thinking like you are. hillllereee is certainly not the answer so...why not Obama? I saw Susan Eisenhower on TV the other morning. She came out and is supporting Obama as well. She said it is a different world today than the one her grandfather lived and that we need something new and differentand someone who can make the changes that are so badly needed at this point in our history. Follow your heart, return the “look” of your friend at the voting place with your very own smile, pull the lever for whomever you feel is the very best out of everyone then walk out with your head held high knowing you did what YOU thought was the right thing. That is YOUR RIGHT. With hilllereee our rights will be on shaky ground and people are realizing that finally. It’s better you vote for whom you have confidence at this point in time than to vote for someone who others think is right. Besides, I always thought voting was a personal thing. We do not have to tell anyone who we vote for. It is none of their business. Only our own. God bless America. :)
Best to stay out of it and let God sort it out. He has wisdom in matters of this kind...
To each his own, but really...we should have a "don't ask don't tell" policy here. Not that theres anything wrong with it, as long as they don't stick in in our faces.
Ok...imagine Obama in a debate against McCain. Who do you think the empty-headed-guided-by-feelings people are going to like? Remember, they don’t really care that Obama isn’t saying anything.
Are you seeing the Dem turnout numbers?
Barack “Cult of Personality” Obama is way worse than Hillary.
Vote for Hillary in the Dem primary.
Step # 1: Eliminate the Clintons and Obama is the guy to do it. I cant see Hillary as VP and neither will Obama offer it to her.
You sir, understand the BIG PICTURE!!!!

“Obama is ahead in the polls too, Clinton has virtually conceded the state to him.”
But my point was — the polling leads have to be discounted by the “dems are uncomfortable about race and lie to pollsters” factor.
How big is that factor? I don’t want to take the gamble and find out later.
And you are willing to take that chance???????? I’m not!!!
