That’s horrible... did she have no symptoms?

That’s horrible... did she have no symptoms?

She did in fact have some edema (swelling of the lower extremities) but she was very good at hiding this from her family. My mom was so tough that when I started as a teacher she'd already been a retired teacher for many years and she decided to go back and substitute in an elementary school at the age of 75 or so. While there one afternoon she tripped, fell and broke her arm. She drove herself to the hospital for treatment, only calling me later to come give her a ride home!

She was 82 when she passed. Right up to the day she last went into the Hospital she was running (jogging) 2 miles a day. She and my dad were divorced in the 70's and he passed in 1980. She looked so young she would often be mistaken for her daughter's sister! Sis hated that but mom loved it! Mom was a party animal who really knew how to have fun and enjoy life.

Her passing so swiftly and peacefully was a blessing. It gave us children & grandchildren and friends time to say everything that we thought we might EVER want to say and to bid her goodbye. I know I'll see her again. I was holding her hand when she passed into Glory. It was exactly 11:17am on the 27th of OCT 1998.

She traveled so much that even to this day, I can't quite think of her as "gone," but rather I choose to think of her as on another walking tour of CHINA or someplace equally remote and distant. As I said, I'll see her again. Then the party will really begin and it'll never end.
