Condolences to the family.
May he rest in peace.
I pray Lantos spent some time seeking the face of YHvH.shalom b'SHEM Yah'shuaHe spent his whole life rejecting the creator of the universe.
Prayers for his family and friends.
Tom Lantos was a great American. Here's what he said at the dedication ceremony of the Victims of Communism Memorial last year:
"Communism was not the only monstrous phenomenon determined to destroy free and open societies," said Lantos, who is chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee. Lantos, a Holocaust survivor, said he had fought against Nazism and communism, and "it is now my privilege to fight against Islamic terrorism determined to take us back 13 centuries."
I agree. One can disagree with someone politically, but when they die, it's best to be gracious. May he rest in peace, and prayers of comfort to his family.
May God rest Mr. Lantos’ soul and bless his family. There are a whole lot of rats a whole lot worse than Lantos. I don’t remember him ever being mean or sarcastic. And who could forget Tom telling some Democrat witness at a Congressional hearing (Craig Livingstone?) that he should “do the honorable thing, like Admiral Boorda”. I about fell off my couch.
FoR all his failings in some folks eyes by choosing to be a democrat and voting as such for 28 years in Congress ..
One can take some solace in that he was also a stalwart supporter of Israel his entire life. Was he a partisan? Oh Yes. In more ways than one.
RIP Tom Lantos
May God comfort his family. Prayers up.
how sad... as a Bay Area native, i’ve heard his name for most of my life...
God bless him, may he rest in peace.
Small consolation to the 40 million babies aborted since roe v wade.
I ask again, is the family here on this forum? No? We're only posturing for each other?
Getcha lazy ass to a card store, buy a sympathy card, then go to the library to find the address of the deceased family, write a nice card or cards, buy 41 cent stamps and mail them. Your posturing doesn't impress anybody!
Like John McCain, I respected what he’d been through but heartilly disagreed with his vision for the country. I, nevertheless, wish him eternal rest, reunited with his loved ones so tragically lost.
May he rest in peace, and may God give his family strength in these difficult times. I disagreed with most of Congressman Lantos’s positions, but he was a good man.
As I said when Congressman Lantos announced his retirement, I am not optimistic that his replacement in the House will be one-tenth as honorable or patriotic as he was.
Conrad Janis died yesterday, too. Now—HIM— I can relate to.
Rest in Peace, Connie, and have fun in that Big Dixieland Jazz Band on high!
I’m sure that Craig Livingstone is upset.
I guess John McCain would have to die to have anything nice said about him here.
RIP. Prayers for his family.
