Rep. Tom Lantos Dies

Congressman Tom Lantos of California has died. Lantos was the only Holocaust survivor ever to serve in Congress. His spokeswoman says he died early Monday morning.

Lynne Weill said that Lantos, 80, passed away at the Bethesda Naval Medical Center in suburban Maryland.

Indeed he was a strong supporter of Israel. I also remember when he called a couple of Yahoo guys something reasonably witty over their involvement in having a newsman in China imprisoned.

Sadly many of his other ideas weren't quite so sound including the recent Turkey/Armenian genocide dust up.

My rather bad memory is that he succeeded Leo Ryan after Jonestown although a quick search doesn't confirm that.

I despised the man's politics and I believe he was wrong about many things, but we all become equal in the eyes of the Creator after we die.

Anecdotally, it is suspected the rise it due to so many people are self-medicating with the little purple OTC pills and not seeing a doc until it is too late.

The best information I have is that if Proton Pump Inhibitors (such as Prilosec) eliminate the pain (as they do with me), the risk of Barrett's and worse is quite low. Do you have info to the contrary? Best wishes for your husband's total recovery!

In my religion, we have this line from a prayer “Lead all souls to heaven, especially those most in need of thy mercy”.

So we do pray for those who seem to be the worst kind of abomination in life.

God will judge him in the afterlife. It's up to us to remind the world what a despicable, ravenous master of death he really was. May his children be troubled by the memory of a vile murdererer for a father--that they might see and repent.

That’s for your prayer life, and perhaps for us, collectively, but we have to be very clear. God will judge souls. We judge the living. And we can’t allow the tragedy of death to cloud our judgement: he was an unfeeling, arrogant, remorseless murderer with manicured fingernails and a clipped European accent. He was as near the personification of evil as we see in this life, and we need to make sure our children, and our colleagues, know what an arch-devil, in life, he really was.

In all honesty, some of the worst things I’ve ever read about anyone, living or dead, I found on free republic. This is a vicious place, don’t kid yourself. Just as bad as any other political site. Some people just have black hearts.

Somebody posted this news on Glock Talk and immediately posted a really hateful remark. The thread was locked. Seeing as how the deceased hailed from San Fran, I’m assuming he was waaaaay to the left.
