Former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee says something weird happened with the count of Republican delegates in yesterday’s caucus. Huckabee was on NBC’s Meet the Press this morning. As he was talking about his strong showing in yesterday’s contests, he said about the caucus here:
Washington state, it's not quite yet over; still too close to call. Moderator Tim Russert: Well, the party has declared it over.
Huckabee: They have, but there's some weird things. We're, we're looking at some legal issues up there, and so we're not ready to concede that one until we understand how...
That was all he said on the program and I have not been able to reach anyone at the campaign. But the campaign’s official blog also raises question about the GOP vote count:
The Washington State GOP, with 87.2 percent reporting, discontinued the counting process. We are looking into the matter. We are committed to making certain EVERY vote is counted. We will keep you posted. As votes were tallied yesterday by the state Republican Party, Sen. John McCain led in an early count, Huckabee led briefly later in the night and then at 11:30 p.m., state party chairman Luke Esser declared McCain the winner.
But there was a razor thin margin between McCain, with 25.5 percent of delegates, and Huckabee, with 23.7 percent, and there was still about 13 percent of precincts around the state that had yet to be counted.

At least Huck is pretending not to be in cahoots with McAint.
The count was taking to long so they stopped and are going to start again on Monday.
Yet, the WA GOP called it for JM anyway, with the number difference of about 200.
So will they revise if it flips the other way?
What is his rationale for staying in if his goal is to help McCain? Embarrass him so much that he is too weak to win in 2008?
Look - Mcaint needs 42% of the remaining delegates to wrap this up. If conservatives vote against him out of protest, then he won’t get them. Can you say “brokered convention?”

I’m a Paul supporter and that’s what I’m hearing as well. I’ve heard of the media calling things early but not the GOP itself. Something stinks. Good for Huckabee.

Does that count assume that Romney keeps all his delegates? What if Romney can throw some to McCain? I don’t know exactly how this works, and whether candidates who have dropped out can control who their delegates support.
Yes, it presumes that Mitt might have an interest in participating at a brokered convention, why else hold on to your delegates by suspending a campaign instead of just dropping out?
What if Romney throws his delegates to Huckabee?
I doubt he would do that, I think Mitt hates Huckabee more than McCain. However, if he did that, then Huckabee would be far closer to winning the nomination today.
Ultimately Romney’s delegates can vote however they choose if he isn’t “running”.... Is that right?
Got the figures off the CNN election web site.
I have a niece in WA state and she says thats what they announced on the local TV station.
But if you go to the web site there has been no update since the middle of the night.
Counting ended 10:55 pm on Saturday night with 87.2% of the votes counted.

A final count is not expected to be available until Monday, February 11.
McCain is the presumptive nominee. The fact that 74.5% of the Washington caucusgoers chose not to vote for him is embarrassing enough. Why bother to count all the votes?
Because Huckabee, Paul, Romney or Uncommitted could beat McLame and really weaken him before Tuesday’s Potomac Primaries.
I question anything coming out of WA State. And I live here.
All I know is the Freepers who kept whining about Huckabee being a stalking horse feel dumb now.
