McCain is NOT Conservatives' choice, says President Bush's TEXAS' GOP
- Because of "a litany of issues in which conservatives feel betrayed by McCain Stem Cell research, the federal Marriage amendment, campaign Finance", ". "He's definitely NOT the Conservatives' choice", said "Kelly Shackelford, chief counsel of the Liberty Legal Institute, a Conservative group" in US President GWBush's State of TEXAS.
- "I think he's going to have a Hard time," said"Valoree Swanson of Spring, a member of the (GOP) State Republican Executive Committee".
=> "Some expressed the HOPE that former Arkansas Gov. Mike HUCKABEE would remain in the race to challenge McCain. The Texas primary is March 4."
- "I think you'd have a decent percentage of the base that is completely demoralized," he said. "I think a decent percentage of people might not vote", said "Shackelford".
>>> Texas has, by far, the LARGEST number of Delegates : 140. Governor Mike Huckabee has been working on preparing TX since long.

Stem Cell research, the federal Marriage amendment, campaign FinanceLet's be honest--are these REALLY the top 3 conservative issues?
I always thought they were defense, taxes and abortion.

Governor Mike Huckabee has been working on preparing TX since long. Oh, puleeze. I've never heard of him before a couple months ago. There's a big difference between talking about TX and actually doing something.

Before I vote for McCain someone will have to put a loaded gun to my head. Even then, I’d ask for him to prove it was loaded.

Regardless of who is elected our only hope is to shore up congress then obstruct the hell out whomever is in office. This is what we should be doing anyway, even when we do have a candidate we like. This is much more important.

I'm a member of a Republican club......everybody I've talked to will NOT vote for McCain in the primary. Some are going to vote in the Dem primary because their vote won't count in the GOP....they can vote in more local elections in the Dem.
If TX had voted earlier, McCain would not be the candidate! We can't vote 'til March 4...as will Ohio.
We have a candidate decided by "momentum" from NEW HAMPSHIRE and their 18 conservatives.
Somebody needs to revamp the primary schedule! This is disgusting!

You raise a good point. The primary system is set up by Washington insiders to promote...Washington insiders.
That’s the system. Michigan and Florida had the gall to not wait in line this year, and they were castigated by the party pros, delegates taken away from each state.
It’s not about democracy, it’s about power.

Finally, someone talking some sense. Thank you. Some facts: McCain’s the pub nominee. He’ll have a difficult time winning for two reasons. First, the MSM, once the dem is established, will pummel him. Second, I believe the vote turn out for conservatives will be at an all time low. $ from conservatives to the GOP will dry up. Regardless, we’ll have either a liberal democrat or a moderate/liberal president. The only way to stop the agenda is to win more seats in the house and senate. I’ll have to hold my nose and vote for McCain for one reason. There’s a shot that he’ll nominate a judge that’s more conservative than what we’d get with Obama/Hillary.

They are elected in precinct meetings so if you don't like it, get like-thinkers and go to the meetings and vote your people in.
I get tired of the "country-club" Republican spill! I'm not one of them ! ... and know they are out-numbered so get off your duff if you don't like the way the party is being run and do something about it at the local level.

Many Republicans in TX will vote down ticket but leave the President vote blank.
To: lonestar
I'm a member of a Republican club......Why is Texas an open primary state? To me this is the old-boy insider Republican way of controlling the outcome of the primary election. Combined with the ridiculous order of the primaries, we are stuck with a candidate who does not represent the conservative wing of the Republican, which I had mistakenly, I guess, thought was the Republican party.
The fact that three Senators seem to be our only choices shows the power of McCain Feingold and the Washington insiders to determine our elections. I am very discouraged that our country lost the opportunity to have a moral, intelligent, well-spoken man for its President.

Thats the system. Michigan and Florida had the gall to not wait in line this year, and they were castigated by the party pros, delegates taken away from each state.Wasn't that only in the Dem party? ONLY Hillary went to FL and now is trying to get their delegates counted....because she won. But nobody campaigned in FL.

You must remember that Conservatism is not based on a group of issues but on principle and ideology. The issues that you mention (and all of the one's that you didn't) ALL line up under these two foundational entities. When issues seek to destroy either our principles or ideology... dims embrace them and we fight against them... that is the natural order of things.
