Why bother dropping out? He has no job and he can travel around on other people’s dime.

Romney quit because he "hates losing". He said so.

The rest was to shroud the failure of his neo-pseudo-conservatism.

I'm sure the odds are terrifically against Mike Huckabee getting the nomination -- but kudos to him for staying in the race. No sense in packing your tent until you actually have to!

The odds aren't "terrific". They're mathematically impossible.

Your boy is a big fat troublemaker.

He has nothing to do these days but campaign.

He showed himself for what he really is, dano. A bigot who practices religious persecution. Good job, Mike.

Mike Gallagher is not paying attention. Mitt Romney did not quit the race, he suspended his campaign.

If McCain does something stupid or Huckabee flies into a rage and kills McCain at a debate, Romney will crank the machine back up and take over.

As far as Huckabee goes, it will be quite interesting to see if he loses to Romney in one of the upcoming primaries. He has already come in behind Ron Paul in 4 states.

Romney was spending millions of his own money — outspending McCain 5 to 1 and Huckabee 14 to 1 — with mixed and arguably disappointing results. Maybe his funds are limitless but as Bill Kristol said, there comes a point when a good businessman like Mitt Romney has to stop throwing good money after bad.

I don’t believe that he’s actually staying in the race. He’s only gaining name recognition and free publicity on his donors’ dollars until the convention when he actually becomes McCain’s running mate.

...but if I spent millions of my own dollars, as Gov. Romney has done, and invested a non-stop, round-the-clock effort for months and months to campaign for president, I really think I'd have to stay in it until the bitter end.

Ummmm, has anyone pointed out that the war was going on when Romney entered the race?

Huckabee needs a little over 80% of the remaingng delegates up for grabs in order to secure the 1191 number needed. That is an almost imposssible task. Romney needs over 60% which is more doable but still much not likely.

I also don’t see Huckabee as the VP nominee. I think if McCain is looking for someone to help in the South he can find a better candidate that will also help in other locations across the country or with conservatives. jmo.

IMHO, Romney was being tag teamed by Huckabee and McCain, and he knew it. Why continue to spend money when deals like West Virginia are being made? He did the sensible thing.

Huck is still standing, and could be characterized like Minnie Pearl once characterized her cousin. She said he was standing in the middle of a road with a horse collar, and he could not tell ya if he had lost a horse or found a horse collar, so it is with Huckster, but he is still standing.

Waiting for the first draft agreement from McCain’s lawyers on making good on the collusion hit-job they did on Romney. You gotta remember this boy’s from Hope, same place as Slick. You don’t think he’d enter into a ‘gentlemens’ handshake’ on a backroom deal like that do you?

Huck’s toast. He can spend more money if he wants, but he won’t be getting the nomination.
